I used to eat here quite regularly since they opened their new location. Their food is hit-or-miss, but I did find one menu item I liked and would indulge in a few times a month.
I’m editing my review because this business decided to alienate their local patrons and regular customers by throwing a literal rave at 10AM on a Sunday morning. The entire block is shaking, they have a bouncer out front and a DJ. Their music is so loud that it sounds like it’s literally inside my apartment. Despite receiving complaints from multiple tenants and the building management, they refused to even attempt to curb the extreme volume. I am not exaggerating when I say that the entire building above them was rattling like an earthquake. The owner basically shrugged and said it would be over by 3PM. How completely disrespectful of the community he operates in and the people who actually eat there. Hope it was worth it, because I for one won’t be giving them my money ever again. Imagine being this blatantly disrespectful to your neighbours and regular customers, when you can literally go on this place any day of the week and see a sea of empty tables.
As for the food, the Spaghetti Bolognese is great, just don’t get it with the meatballs, which are terrible. They are flavourless, grey, and the texture of an old sponge. Also their desserts are disgusting and have obviously been sitting in the case for ages. If you enjoy spending your money in places that are a detriment to the community, and want some great pasta, go here. But breakfast is MUCH better at Twisted Fork (just around the corner), and frankly I’d rather eat spaghetti at Old Spaghetti Factory, where the owners aren’t so confused about their priorities and have always been a respectful and pleasant neighbour to those of us who call...
Read moreDazed and confused… you are empty on a Saturday night for good reason. I really wanted to like this place. Decor was nice except for the horns on the wall. Are you an Italian restaurant or a hunting lodge? The menu was too big, without any real direction. It is a confused menu where you search for anything appetizing and find nothing that jumps out at you, The food looked good but had little flavour. A panini should be a toasted sandwich where you can eat it like a sandwich. It is like they want the food to look good in nice black bowls and plates when they should focus more on taste.
You should never have buns in plastic wrap for customers to see as they look cheap. Cleaning supplies on the beer taps and the beer poured out of a metal container because the taps give too many suds. Are you kidding me!
To the guy in shorts, wearing sunglasses on top of his head, if you are not a chef stay out of the kitchen. Maybe you are the owner, and if you are act like an owner, not a friend chatting up the chef. Guests can see you wondering in and out. Gordon Ramsey would rip the owners of this restaurant because it has potential. It should be much better than it is. I started off hopeful and left angry.
Get a restaurant consultant, reduce your menu, stop trying to do everything and focus on a high end, destination Italian restaurant. This is not a review I want to write but man o man, someone needs to rip the bandaid off because empty on a Saturday night means you will be broke...
Read moreFabulous meal at Brioche!!!!!! Absolutely blew my expectations away and put a super sweet finish to a wonderful day.
Food: Food was 6/5 stars. A flavor explosion in your mouth, yet expertly balanced. I immediately tasted the experience and passion of the chefs cooking in the food. The mushroom sauce complimented my steak wonderfully and did not overpower the meat whatsoever. The pasta was delicious, you could taste the freshness of the sauce (AND PLENTY OF FRESH GARLIC 🤌🏼). Bruschetta for 2 was delicious, the rosemary bread with cheese+pesto on top was STELLAR.
Service: Service was incredible. Everyone was so friendly and helpful in answer questions and checking on us. I was so moved by the chef taking time to come by and talk with us after our meal. He provided us with his homemade limoncello, which was the best we’ve had (and we’ve been to Italy). My wife and I savored EVERY drop. It’s no surprise the chef is from Italy, so you’re in very good hands. One of the servers stopped also to speak with us, and we were delighted by his conversation and service.
Atmosphere : Wonderful atmosphere! Loved the music and decor of the place. Felt rustic and very attuned to the vibe of Gas Town, yet modern. The chairs were also SUPER comfy.
Overall, so grateful we spent our last evening here in Vancouver at Brioche. GRAZIE MILLE to the chef and team. I wish nothing but successful for this restaurant, and we’ll absolutely be back the next time we’re in...
