I’ve gone back and forth about whether I should share this, because no review can undo the damage this salon has done to my hair or the distress it’s caused me. But I’m writing this in hopes that it reaches someone who’s considering going to M Prive Salon. Earlier this week, I trimmed my own bangs at home because they were poking my eyes. They weren’t terrible, just a bit uneven. I thought I’d have them professionally fixed and shaped. So on Thursday, May 15, I booked a simple Bang Cut service through Fresha. I arrived at the salon at 5:30 PM and was greeted by the owner and their stylist, Fabiano. I explained that I had trimmed my bangs and just needed them cleaned up a bit, nothing major. At first, it seemed like he understood. But when he started sectioning off more hair from the top of my head, I assumed it was to help blend the bangs with the rest of my hair. I trusted his judgment. As the cut progressed, I noticed my bangs getting thicker and shorter, and the final result felt really heavy and blunt, almost like a bowl cut. I asked if they could be thinned out a bit, and Fabiano brought out thinning shears, but went at it pretty aggressively. What I was left with looked even more uneven and choppy than when I first walked in. Fabiano could tell I wasn’t happy and kindly asked what I was thinking. At that point, I started to feel anxious because I didn’t know how to fix what had already been done. I explained that it wasn’t what I had in mind, and although Fabiano was very kind and polite, and used Google Translate to communicate, the situation became more stressful when the salon owner got involved. I was clearly upset, and instead of diffusing the situation, the owner questioned me in an impatient tone, asking if I wanted my bangs cut even or uneven. But that wasn’t the point anymore. My bangs were already ruined. What I needed was professional guidance, empathy, and a solution. Instead, I was told, “We don’t have all night,” since they were closing. I felt rushed, unheard, and disrespected. At one point, the owner even implied that I was trying to get a free haircut. I couldn’t believe it. Eventually, the owner stepped back and Fabiano and I tried to fix it again. I asked him to avoid adding more hair or cutting too much, but he panicked and started cutting the sides of my hair. By then, I had uneven bangs, thinner sections on the sides, and a cut that felt beyond repair. I asked if someone else could help, but the owner returned, told me I wouldn’t be charged, and asked me to leave. It was just me and the staff at that point, and I left feeling dismissed and frustrated. I couldn't believe what was happening. My confidence took a hit after my experience at M Prive Salon. I take pride in my hair and always try to take care of it, so leaving the salon feeling worse than when I came in was really disheartening. I’ve since gone to another stylist to see if it could be fixed, but I was told the best thing to do is wait for it to grow out. Fabiano was kind and I do believe he tried, but the experience as a whole— from miscommunication to how the situation was handled —left me incredibly disappointed. I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews, but I hope this helps others make an informed decision. I walked in looking for a small fix. I walked out feeling humiliated, helpless, and heartbroken. Photos attached for transparency.

I want to express my immense gratitude to hairstylist Mila for the Scalp Treatment. She's a true professional, identified the root causes of my scalp issues, tailored the right treatment without unnecessary medications and procedures, and the results were remarkable! I entrust my health and beauty solely to her. I was impressed by the serious approach and result-oriented focus. After this service, I noticed a significant improvement, and they even showed me the before-and-after results on the computer – I was very pleased. The diagnosis was conducted at the highest level, Mila explained the essence of the problem and the strategy for the upcoming intervention in detail. She clarified how, after several sessions, "dormant" follicles became active, the hair coverage became denser and voluminous, and the scalp became clearer. As a bonus, the service includes a head massage, which I adore. After the massage, my head is always clearer, blood circulation improves, as if a burden has been lifted from my shoulders after years. State-of-the-art equipment, top-notch hairstylists, and a very beautiful salon – I'm delighted. Highly recommend!

Officiallly the Best hair salon experience I’ve had so far in Vancity. Hanro is the BEST stylist and hair colorist one can wish for. He is super talented, a brilliant artist and a master of his craft, knowledgeable and very personable & congenial, which is so important when sitting in a chair for hours 👌🏻💯 It has been quite a feat to find a hairstylist in Vancouver who can create the movement and bounce that I am looking for; Hanro transformed my hair beautifully and gave me a fresh bright look that I was looking for 💯 He has a tasteful, creative eye for colors and cut, and he’s very knowledgeable about what colors would complement your skin color. The time and care he puts into his craft is so evident and his chair side manner is also top notch💯 The ambiance, and location of the salon is great as well; very friendly, professional environment, peaceful and spacious space. Everything was handled with great care, respect and consideration. I would recommend Hanro and the whole MPrive team to anyone who’s a fan of art, beauty, elegance, creativity and perfection! 🙌🏻

Never done it before so tried their scalp facial $120+tax. Came across this business while looking for a salon and thought this was a cool concept so I booked a same day appointment. Friendly informative experience with Arina (she's a great artist, hair stylist & MUA Wow).

The process: I got seated for a consultation where my scalp was analyzed and a "before" picture was taken. I took off my shoes and put on a disposable boot. Arina explained me the condition of my scalp (lots of white clogged pores yikes), I went to have my hair washed, scalp massaged, infused with "potions", and a quick blow dry. The treatment is for an hour and including pre & post treatment analysis and picture. They also introduced me to the treatment shampoo and root serum that were for sale. The Trichologist who formulated this concept seemed quite aggressive for my taste. I decided to only buy the $56 + tax root serum. Their 300ml small bottle is for $36 that I may try next time. I learnt I had great hair density but active hair fall due to my clogged scalp. The session itself was also $120 and ended up spending a total of $226 with tax+tip.

Overall it was a great experience and the service was alright. The experience isn't relaxing or anything (not like those neck massages at hair salons or even the Instagram videos of their ex employee Charlie performing this service), the foot massage is by a machine and it wasn't very comfortable for me, but the experience focused on my scalp and I have to say, my scalp felt refreshed and wonderful. It's very different from just washing your hair, worth a try. As for me, they recommend bi weekly treatments for better results but I'm not ready yet. I'll give the products a try for awhile and go from there.

I will try other hair related services with...
