The last place visited in Canada is, of course, a city park.
If you’ve been following this blog for a decent length of time, you are aware that I have wrote a lot of short reviews for city parks in my area. My trip through Canada wouldn’t be complete without visiting a city park. We rolled up on a bright sunny afternoon for a quick stop to stretch out our legs and let the kids burn off some energy on the playground.
Stopping here was a perfect stop before crossing the border back in to the states. The sun was shining, the air was fresh, legs were stretched, and the surrounding area was beautiful. While the kids played, us adults chilled out and took in the scene around the park. It was located in a downtown area with a waterfront off to the side. Truly a unique place for a park. But, that didn’t stop people from visiting as it was fairly packed for early afternoon.
I would like to describe the actual park itself but it seems to have gone through some upgrades since I was last there. So, anything posted after this sentence will be outdated.
The park itself was large for one located downtown Vancouver. Parking wasn’t a huge issue due to the sheer size of the area dedicated to the park, walking paths and the waterfront. My cousin and I were able to sneak on one of the jungle gym playgrounds for a few candid/fun photos. I don’t remember specifics about everything the park offered but I remembered that the view was just perfect. Plus, I remember seeing some odd buildings off in the distance that time did not allow us to check out.
If you find yourself in Vancouver, do yourself a favor and check out Creekside Park if you need a moment to clear your head and take in a truly unique scene. Browsing the park’s website, it appears they have a zip line now. Wish they would’ve had that when I visited! That could have marked something off my...
Read moreCame to this park on a Friday afternoon as we were walking from one water taxi stop/dock (Plaza of Nations) to another one (The Village). It was pretty busy and filled with a bunch of kids all over the place - which, is a good sign of a popular park, I guess. There's a pretty tall slide (say 2-3 stories tall?) a smaller play area for tots and toddlers, and a zipline-like rider that was very popular with the kids. The ground is covered with a rubber flooring that provides some tread and has a firm-yet-bouncy feel to the sole of your feet. Plus, the park has a really nice view out into False Creek/Science Center (old Expo 86 site). Located a short walk away from the Main Street/Science Center Skytrain station on the Expo Line. Recommended to kill a bit of time with...
