Kitsilano Beach, often referred to as "Kits Beach," is one of Vancouver's most iconic and beloved spots. Located just minutes from downtown, this beautiful beach offers stunning views of the city skyline and the North Shore mountains, making it an ideal destination for both locals and tourists.

The beach is known for its wide sandy shore, perfect for sunbathing, beach volleyball, and picnics. The grassy areas adjacent to the sand provide ample space for lounging, playing frisbee, or enjoying a relaxed afternoon with friends and family. During the summer months, Kits Beach is bustling with activity, as people come to swim, paddleboard, or kayak in the calm waters of English Bay.

One of the highlights of Kitsilano Beach is the Kitsilano Pool, Vancouver's only saltwater pool. This heated outdoor pool stretches 137 meters, offering plenty of space for swimming laps or simply floating and taking in the views. It's a great spot for families, with a designated area for children to splash around safely.

The surrounding area is rich with amenities. Numerous cafes, restaurants, and shops line the streets, providing plenty of options for dining and shopping before or after your beach visit. The Boathouse Restaurant, situated right on the beach, offers delicious seafood dishes with a fantastic view.

For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Kitsilano Beach Park features tennis courts, basketball courts, and a playground, making it a versatile destination for all ages. The scenic walking and biking paths connect Kits Beach to nearby parks and beaches, making it easy to explore the area on foot or by bike.

Overall, Kitsilano Beach is a vibrant and scenic destination that captures the essence of Vancouver's outdoor lifestyle. Whether you're looking to relax by the water, engage in sports, or enjoy a meal with a view, Kits Beach has something...

The view from Kits Beach allows one to take in mountains across the bay, snow capped as they are now, with a sweep from Bowen Island territory on the West, though to the sky-scrapers of downtown Vancouver to the East. Straight ahead one sees a bay populated both by big tankers, loading or unloading goods, or small crafts enjoying activities on the expanse of water this bay affords. I live on Kits Point, close to the water, so most nights, keeping the at least 6-foot distance from others enjoying the ocean environment, I take my dinner & a drink down to watch the sunset & the lights come on the North Shore across the water. Some just sit & take it all in, others stroll along the beach, some dipping in the ocean, when the warmer weather comes. Many, too, ijog along the seawall path, or cycle or stroll along, East to Granville Island or West past the little beaches dotted along the coast until one comes to the Royal Yacht Club ahead of the next big beach of Spanish Banks. Kits Beach has more than most beaches in terms of sporting facilities. There are the public tennis courts, next to The Boathouse, which has closed for now as well as basketball courts, just East of The Boathouse, the first ones my son played on as a fifteen-year kid on immigrating to Canada. Now both are closed til further notice & it is not likely we will see volleyball played on the beach either this summer. There are also clean & relatively new public toilets tucked beneath the Boathouse, which remain open but seem to close earlier than previously. It will be good to again see Kits Beach in full swing, hopefully before summers’...
