We recently visited The Nook with a party of seven and sat near the kitchen, which is always fun. The open kitchen setup is a great entertainment option, allowing us to watch the chefs at work. However, there were a few drawbacks. Firstly, the prices felt a bit steep for what was offered. Additionally, the staff were wearing everyday clothing, making it difficult to identify who worked for the restaurant. It would be a nice touch to have matching branded clothing or at least a dress code with name tags to help customers recognize the staff. Another point of improvement is having the wait staff introduce themselves by name, which adds a personal touch and can create a stronger connection, potentially leading to better tips. I also appreciate when servers offer suggestions or ask questions to enhance the dining experience. Unfortunately, none of this happened during our visit. Overall, while the open kitchen was enjoyable, the other aspects left much to be desired. I don't think I would dine there in the future.

This place is fantastic! The food is delicious, and I highly recommend visiting during happy hour when there are excellent deals available. I've visited twice now and had a great experience both times. Gavin from Dublin was one of our wonderful servers, and he made our visit extra special by surprising us with a complimentary dessert to celebrate my partner and I’s 1-year anniversary - such a thoughtful gesture! The only minor downside was the noise level inside the restaurant. It was quite lively, making it difficult to hear my partner at times. However, this is simply due to the popularity and vibrant atmosphere of the place. Additionally, the cleanliness of the bathroom could have been better, as shown in the photo attached to this review. I believe this was likely due to some guests not treating it properly rather than any fault of the staff. Overall, this is a fantastic spot with excellent food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Nook is probably the best pasta place I’ve ever gone to in terms of quality of food. Ordering the traditional Tonnarelli Cacio Pepe is always a good test for whether a pasta restaurant is legit. The pasta was not only handmade to perfection, but was also cooked flawlessly al dente. The cheese and pepper sauce mixed with the more-than-generous amount of Parmesan cheese, which coated the pasta extremely nicely, making every bite a pure delight. The rigatoni boscaiola, made with, again, perfectly al dente penne, and some proscuitto, mushrooms, and sun dried tomatoes was also delicious. It’s creamy, aromatic, and leaves your mouth with the perfect aftertaste of a mixture of all the ingredients. In terms of the ambience, it’s lively, family-friendly, but also gives off a relaxed-romantic vibe. It’s really good for anything, unless you want something super quiet and intimate, this is the place for you.

I wrote review last night after our dinner that I chose to revise so that it would not be removed because of the amount of expletives used. But I do think that the restaurant needs to know so the revised version is below. This happened in the evening of May 17th

Everyone inside the restaurant was absolutely lovely! The food was incredible, the service was great, except for The blond (male) outside with the white yellow and blue polo shirt who felt comfortable being condescending and passive aggressive, saying to us as we stood outside "as is normal with every restaurant the hostess is on the inside" when we were literally just existing not in his way or the in the way of the door. I also work in the service industry that is just as stressful, and I would never put my stress onto my patrons, because that is just terrible manners. The only reason I feel comfortable being so rude in this review is because that is exactly how rude he was, and honesty I get that he was stressed, but don't understand how I am approaching a service industry and experiencing this behaviour, its nasty and we were literally just existing out of his way.So unfortunately for that I cannot give a 5 star. Maybe he thinks that the guests can't hear what he is saying as we all have those inner thoughts when we are under stress, however all of those things were heard loud and clear, and there is a difference thinking something and comfortably saying it out loud. It lead to very caustic introduction to the restaurant. This is literally only aimed at the guy serving the patio. Fortunately this persons behaviour was an anomaly and did not reflect on the any of the staff member. Every other staff member that we encountered was an absolute pleasure! To that man: Maybe you should hold your tongue the same way you did with the mom of the two white children that were running in front of you while you were holding dinner plates. If i was in a bad mood I would have...

I always like Italian food and like Nook. I have also been here a couple of times. I even come to the restaurant every week during summer time.

But there’s a time in summer that I passed by the Nook in this location in the afternoon, I saw there’s a happy hour. At that time, there was about 15 mins until happy hour. I wasn’t planning to be there, but saw there’s happy hour and I liked this restaurant. Then I asked the waitress if I can sit here for 15 minutes until happy hour to order, she said yes then I came in and sat down. After 1 min, I was asked by another waiter what am I planning to order, I said can I wait for the happy hour? Then he went away. I didn’t mean I will just sit here order nothing. I was planning to sit here during the afternoon and of course order something. Then another guy came, rudely, stared at me in a very uncomfortable way, said, “what are you planning to order, we can’t just let you sit here”. There’s only 10 minutes to the happy hour and I came in because I was told I can order at happy hour. If you refuse at the beginning when I asked before I came in I am totally fine with it, I can either order at regular menu or just don’t come in. The person being rude at me looks like a manager or someone in charge, I don’t know. But this way makes me feel very uncomfortable and awkward. It doesn’t feel like a way to treat customer in a restaurant.

Maybe I am a young girl looks like I was not planning to spend a lot of money here, but as I sat down it means I was planning to order and spend time here, judging a person won’t be a good way to make a restaurant fancy. This rude way treating a customer ruined my...

Disgusting service. Left a nasty memory about this visit to Vancouver. I haven't had this trashy attitude even in fast foods of US worse areas. It's like we were on a prison break. Asked to sit outside, the host yelled no. Rushed us inside where it's full to the limit. Tricked us to buy a drink first then the boot camp began. All we heard was "no" "last call food" "last call bar" and they went above and beyond to make us as uncomfortable as possible. We barely asked for much. The host and servers are beyond lazy mentally with all their energy wasted on doing things as sloppy and fast as possible, only so they can close early. Prison guards should learn from these freaks. It felt like a bootcamp from start to finish. When we asked about wifi they just had a smirk on their faces, and refused us to bring enough silverware. Ignored every request about it with a creepy smirk on their faces. This place is advised by Amex and Discover to visit, yet the server/host was in such a manic rash that he refused for me even to try paying with those form of payments. I know it's a common knowledge that that it's only visa/Mastercard, but when you try it works. It even works on vending machines in Vancouver. So the ignorance mixed with manic obsession about closing early turned into a vey disgusting nasty experience that made nauseous after leaving this place. Seriously.. saying no WIFI and smiling at you. What kind of mental freak is this woman? She brings 2 plates and only one set of silverware, and then non of them responds.. They just yell no Amex and no Discover and no WIFI with a creepy smirk on their...
