EDIT 2 April 29: I finally received the exchanged sunglasses... and they’re still wrong. I had gone back in person again to get the pupil distance and lens height fixed. This time, the lenses are the wrong type—I paid for the thinner “Advance” lenses, and they sent me the thick “Basic” ones instead (So its a 2cm lens lol). I’m not sure if the optician actually noted the right specs or just didn’t care, but at this point, it’s exhausting to keep following up.
Original: The place is hip and the atmosphere is nice. That said, I wouldn’t personally come here to get glasses. It’s extremely busy—partly because they’re combining a coffee shop with the eyewear store. I’d recommend taking public transit since there is paid street parking, but barely any space available.
I originally came to the physical store because I bought two pairs of glasses online, and the pupil distance/fine-tuning measurements were off and super blurry. I wanted an optometrist to double-check the measurements and also help me find a proper pair of day-to-day glasses. The optometrist only looked at one pair—my sunglasses—and after filling out the exchange form for those, I asked about trying on new glasses to buy. She said sure… then just left. I was super confused, so I went back up to her and asked again to try out some frames. It felt awkward, like I was bothering her for just trying to shop. And honestly, between the long wait and her being kind of cranky, I didn’t feel like pushing her to look at the other issue.
The service overall was odd. There’s an online queue system, but I saw an older guy in Supreme clothes cut the line while the optometrist got all flirty with him. Even if you’re signed in, expect to wait 30+ minutes because staff will often help whoever’s standing nearby instead of following the queue.
I’m sure the food is good, but I didn’t get to try any—I was there so long that my 2-hour paid parking expired. Yes, I waited that long! I had originally planned to chill at the beach and grab a drink after, but this visit totally ate up my time.
EDIT April 24: The kits phone call service team is wonderful to work with and they are all very patient. After some attempts they finally got one that doesn't make me want to puke when worn. I bought Wednesday, Phoenix Comfort Fit (polarized) and Skeppsbron. Frame-wise, Skeppsbron is the most comfortable to me.
TIPS: If you have an old piece of glasses, then stick to the similar sizes when ordering online. Don't trust the online measurements too much. Also, some frames are better than others, so its good to go to the store to...

We went down the Sat, you do have to book an eye exam - I didn’t see this on the website but it was a simple as setting up an appointment the next day. I was lucky I could get an appointment- there was one slot.
The ladies I spoke to Saturday were very helpful, patient and kind - me and my partner booked my eye exam for the next day and then checked out some frames because we had came in. You can essentially try on most accessible frames, some designer frames are locked behind showcases and you need assistance to access those. Kits had sanitation boxes available and glasses were being sanitized and re-stocked on the sales floor constantly, kudos to that!
You can ask sales associates about particular frames, they have a decent selection not on display in store and otherwise they can get particular styles online in at the store usually within a week, or so one associate told me.
Today I had my eye exam - I’m someone with an eye condition, uveitis, and I was very impressed with the ocular/eye exam staff. I didn’t feel rushed or badgered, which some medical stuff you can tell you’re dirt to them. Equipment was modern and clean, and staff knew how to use them and instructed the patient well. Dr. Gurchain Singh was totally awesome, asked questions to find out more about my patient history, made recommendations to follow up with on with my specialist (I’ve had cataract surgery and a lens replacement, and he let me know that in his/their opinion my lens could do with some cleaning. Appreciated!)
At the end of my visit, I had gotten 2 frames for $106 + cleaning kit & 2 hard boxes. They do direct billing (insurance) for some companies, mine is a manual billing, but they have a handy sheet online to facilitate this.
I was told it would be 3-5 days for shipping, they don’t do in store pickup or warehouse pickup. I do live in Vancouver.
They give you a free (regular) drink voucher at the end of your visit, my partner and I got an iced mocha and walked around Khatsahlano a bit after. Overall, super awesome 10/10 experience, especially on a busy holiday weekend.
Shoutout to Sarah! Super knowledgeable, friendly, and a bday twin of mine (we discovered this at checkout.) You slay Sarah!
Thanks Kits!...
Read more**Update December 21st•• since they replied to my feedback, I reached out to their email as they asked. They never responded, my email was sent on December 9th. This is just one of their tactics to look nice when people read their reviews.
On the 12th, I decided to make an appointment on my own. Which if you been to their website, you’ll see it’s not very clear. You have to go to the very bottom of the page, and click “our location” then there is a link to make an appointment.
On the day of my appointment, I decided not to support this kind of business and cancel it. They don’t have any cancel bottoms. I wrote in an email. They never replied. They also never call in when a person missed their appointment.
This speaks to the quality of their service. Avoid Kits Cafe & Eyewear if you can.
Original Post Average food, poor service. Glasses were scattered everywhere on the counter, guessing it was done by other people , but felt like going to a discount store. They don’t have all their glasses on display, so I wanted to get help. The shop was quite busy and staff were all helping people. So like a good Canadian, I scan the wait list QR code they have displayed everywhere and patiently waited. While waiting, I saw people who just came in get helped, I just thought they had an appointment. But after two hours, when I saw non of the staff were helping people, I went and ask where I was in line. The staff doesn’t even know what line or wait list I’m talking about. Then why have signs everywhere asking people to use the QR code to join the queue.
At least, I got a nice place to feed my baby and change her diaper while waiting. And the staff kindly provided hot water for me to warm up baby bottle.
Also, while we wait my spouse decided to get some food, however the staff’s attitude were horrible. My spouse saw the donut and out of curiosity just asked if that’s all the flavour they had. The staff’s tone and facial expression suggested she was wrong for asking, or they don’t care.
Should I have read the reviews first. 5 stars reviews are all basically for the location and vibe. Food as well, but any authentic cafe tastes better. It’s mainly an eyewear company, but maybe they have forgotten.
I like the glasses’ design, but the service is making it hard for me to go with Kits.
Haha they even put Cafe...
