I usually go to this konbinya and I've spent quite a bit of money here over the years. I am sad to say I will not be returning. I bought a few items using a $20.00 bill to pay, and I also asked politely for change for my laundry. When I asked, I was told "We do not provide change for laundry, we are not a bank and you should go to the bank". The tone and demeanor of the woman sales clerk was condescending and rude. I was taken a back and very humiliated and embarrassed. I can understand if she said it nicer, by just saying no , but she went on a rant. Sometimes it's not what you say, but rather how you say it. I just returned from Japan and had a lovely experience at the konbinyas there. This is not the same experience or feel as...

This is Konbiniya Japan Centre's 2nd location, after the very popular and long-standing Robson St. shop. Many of the items usually found at their other store are available here. Among these, instant ramen and other noodles, snacks, drinks, condiments, and, of course, onigiri with different fillings. If you are in the Kerrisdale area, this is your new go-to convenience store for Japanese food items. They offer hot water and have a microwave oven that can be used if you want to warm up your food and eat it just outside, where they have a small table. Don't forget to check their sale items in front of the register, there's always something interesting to be...

I noticed that this grocery store had high ratings so I decided to buy the fish for my first attempt at making sushi from here at the last minute. The fish turned out to be pretty decent, and was available at a low price. However, I realized later that the mackerel (Saba) I had purchased was from China, which I am not fond of. Unfortunately, it was too late to return the item. In spite of this, I found the store to be very clean and organized, and it offers a wide range of products. Although I won't be purchasing mackerel from here again unless it's from Alaska, I will still continue to shop here for...

Konbiniya Japan Centre is such a fun spot to shop! They have an amazing selection of Japanese snacks, from savory bites to unique sweets that are always exciting to try. Their noodle section is especially impressive, with so many varieties to choose from. I also love browsing their shelves for cooking essentials—there are often great bargains on ingredients that are hard to find elsewhere. The store feels welcoming, well-stocked, and full of treasures that make each visit enjoyable and worthwhile.

It’s not far from my home, so I go there often. I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere where I can take my time browsing and buying all sorts of Japanese products. Compared to H-Mart, some overlapping items are a bit more expensive here, but they definitely have a much wider selection of Japanese goods. However, the staff member seemed rather grumpy from the moment they greeted me to the end of the checkout process.
