Niagara College Residence — Attraction in Welland

Honestly the friendliest staff I have met at any hotel/residence. My husband, little one and I stayed here for a few nights. Here is the run down: it was positive from the moment we walked in. We received our keys, parking pass and grabbed the dolly for our luggage. It took us a second to understand how to lock the doors (neither of us ever stayed in res. before). Walked in, super clean. I always check bedding for bugs and thankfully did not find anything. We did have a self-inflicted situation with our toddler locking all of us out of a room but thankfully maintenance was on it FAST. I also found out the next day that they were changing that lock to avoid future issues which I really appreciate. Let me be clear, this is not a fancy, posh spot but this is extremely great service and hit every one of our needs. Two beds, a bathroom, and space to park. It exceeded our needs by giving us two separate bedrooms and a kitchenette. It really hit the mark when the price was half of what it would be to stay where we normally go. So if you’re okay without the bells and whistles of pillow top bedding and subway tile bathrooms you’ll be more than good. Also I couldn’t hear any neighbours! The spot we stayed would not be ideal for most people needing accessible bathrooms. It is a walk-in corner shower instead of a bath/shower combo which I know can be a deal breaker for some. For us though, hit the brief :) So yeah, solid stay....

I'm not sure why the picture of this place doesn't match the location....we have major plumbing issue at our house and need local accommodations to shower for a few days. Luckily insurance covers the cost but at almost 100$ per night I find that rate ridiculous for the basic amenities here. The front desk lady was polite and helpful but the facilities are basic and there are no coffee or beverages available except 1 cold drink vending machine and 1 snack vending machine. It appears clean but after a shower when I used the bathmat to dry up a little water on the floor it was obvious the cleaners aren't concerned with the floors. It's too bad really, I wasn't even aware that this place was a hotel option in Welland in the summer months and I was a little excited to check it out but it's far too over priced for the level of amenities. I was not impressed in the condition of the NC dorm...yhe rooms smelled damp and moldy and the rooms have old ripped carpets. To pay almost $7000 in dorm fees to feel like I'm moving in to a delapitated jail cell is disheartening. I should of been able to see the dorm before paying because if I had I wouldn't be staying in residence.
