Easiest way to get to Shenzhen or take the through train to Hong Kong. It can get very busy around festival times. I always use the automated ticket machines when i travel to Shenzhen so i don't have to queue, just swipe your passport and select your ticket, though it is only in Chinese language. There is a Burger King, a KFC and a McDonalds.
The GZ - HK through train is sometimes delayed. The most comfortable trains you can get are the HK KTT trains.
Get the HK$250 seat. The carriage is very comfortable. More room. Better on board snacks. Free water. Starbucks coffee. English speaking staff.

Also, underneath the train station is a massive shopping park. Lots of clothes, food and a massive Aeon supermarket.
Try to avoid the station on national or public holidays or festivals. I have seen a couple of hundred thousand people here during one of those type events. Best to just walk away from that because you are not...
Read moreWe travelled from Guangzhou to Shenzhen and book the tickets from online through a local friend. As we didnt have QR or paper tickets in hand, Dont worry. U just bring the passport and choose the lane â manual verification â at check in and check out. The steps are as follow: Check your waiting room no. And follow to the pathway accordingly after security checking your luggages if any. Then before the entrance to your waiting room there will be an entrance with IF scan door and one manual verification lane. If you are a foreigner with passport, pls queue that lane and u will get inside. Then wait in the waiting room till they call for boarding. Pls queue again for boarding using the manual verification lane with your passport ready. Check your car no. Of the train and if larger number like 14 then u will have to walk/run till the end of the train. Trains were clean , spacious and nice. We paid ard RMB 97 for one way.    Read moreGuangzhou East Rail Station has Z train that goes direct to Hum Hong station in Kowloon. Itâs a two hour journey that is currently about $40 US one-way. You can get tickets at the station or order them online. I order online through China Ticket Online. The governmentâs toilet-upgrade campaign has not reached this station and most of the toilets are the squat type and not very pleasant, which is surprising for such a major transportation hub. There are western style toilets in the adjacent shopping mall. There is no ATM in the station. There is an ATM next door in the shopping mall as well. Be aware that during Chinaâs heavy travel season in February that ATMs frequently have no currency to dispense. I learned this the hard way traveling to Kowloon from Guangzhou in late February 2018. Not one single ATM in mainland China that I tried on that trip had...
