The village itself is definitely worth a visit and interesting to walk through. On a clear day it’s a delightful ferry ride from and back to Hong Kong island with wonderful views west across the harbour. Take MTR to Sai Wan Ho, Exit A and follow signpost to ferry pier (about a 5 min walk). You walk past the Sai Wan Ho market building (most mornings) which is well worth a brief visit for what it sells. Board a Coral Sea company ferry at the pier to Sam Ka Tsuen: HK$9 one way, Octopus card accepted. About every 30 minutes - timetable is online. The seafood restaurants in Lei Yue Mun are tourist traps and best avoided. Nearly all expect you to buy your live fish - clearly fresh - at a fish vendor with no marked prices whatsoever then take the fish to a separate venue to have it cooked and prepared for a fee to be negotiated. That’s lots of haggling and a high probability of being ripped off twice.
