The aim of that project was to define a city expansion strategy that would maintain a waterfront to preserve the readability of the original shoreline of the peninsula, where many historic buildings still stand today, and push development to a second ring further out. Along the lakes, a linear public space was generated for the people's enjoyment of the new water feature.

The water front has two levels, one closer to the water level, and another along the street level. Both allow different but pinteresting views, one being closer to the water, the other with better views of the city. Changing from one level to the other can happen at several points, with stairs and ramps. Night walks during the hot season are also a good option, as the temperature (and breeze) drops slightly more than in the rest of the city.

Nam Van Lake is one of two artificial lakes on the southern side of the peninsula. The Friendship bridge runs through the lake, there is also a nice promenade along the east side of the lake that can be accessed through Wynn, MO and MGM Macau properties. This is a nice leisurely area to have a walk.

A fews back, the Anim'Arte NAM VAN Leisure area opened at the northern most end of the lake, along Ave. Panoramica do Lago Nam Van. This is a family-friendly area to enjoy paddle and some interesting arts, crafts and souvenir shops.
