There are quite a few statues around Macau, including a monument of Portuguese explorer, Jorge Alvares, the first European to set land in China by sea in the early 16th-century.
Here you see bearded Alvares with his right hand making a prophetic gesture to the sky, while he stands before a padrão (Portuguese stone cross) behind him. He is wearing a cape and belted sword. It is an interesting image and depiction of the famous navigator from the European Age of Discovery.
