One of the intriguing attractions in Macau is the 32 meter tall, bronze statue of the goddess Kun Iam, which can be found on a small man-made island that is linked to Avenida de Sun Yat-sen on the Macau Peninsula. The Statue is large but delicate and enjoyable to see. Most visitors who take hotel shuttle buses to the Cotai Strip will pass by Kun Iam Statue on the left side of the road, prior to crossing over to Cotai, via Macau-Taipa Bridge. Those taking day tours around the Macau Peninsula can quickly stop here for a photo of the goddess and move along. If you have more time, you can also make a visit to the Ecumenical Centre (free admission) which the Kun Iam Statue rests upon. Opening hours are 10am to 6pm (Sat-Thurs) - closed on Fridays The Ecumenical Centre is a two floor building where you can find information on important religions and philosophies such as Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism. The ceiling murals insider the centre are nice as are some of the Kun Iam figures and information found in the lower, basement floor. A ten minute stop here will be sufficient for most visitors. In the end, the Ecumenical Centre is a specialist attraction with little to see. However, they keep the facilities quite cool inside, making this a nice place for a rest during hot summer days. The Kun Iam Statue is attractive and endearing, and we enjoy seeing it when we pass by. However, due to its isolation from the majority of attractions found on the Macau Peninsula, we don't visit very often. Tip: There is also free government wifi which can be accessed at the centre. Tip: Presently, there are no convenient public bus stops nearby so visitors need to walk (or take taxi) to visit the statue and centre. The MGM Hotel entrance is around a 5 minute walk to the statue and centre. The Macau Art Museum (MAM) and Science Centre are approximately the same distance in the other direction. Further, The MGM Hotel entrance is only a 5 minute walk from the Kun Iam Statue. It is easy to pick up taxi here if you can't find one after your visit to the statue and centre.

The statue was built in 1999 and sits gracefully on a lotus platform in the Outer Harbor of Macau. The lotus flower is the symbol of purity, and in Buddhism, it represents enlightenment. The Goddess of Mercy stands atop a globe, symbolizing her compassion for all people in the world. Her posture is elegant, with one hand holding the lotus flower, and the other hand holding the water vase, symbolizing peace and harmony. The statue is a magnificent testament to the Buddhist faith and culture in Macau, and it draws visitors from all over the world. The sheer size and intricacy of the statue are stunning. Her presence is calming, and she's a symbol of hope, faith, and kindness. Moreover, the statue's location allows visitors to experience her beauty while surrounded by the natural elements of the sea and sky. The view from the location is breathtaking, and it's a serene place to contemplate life's wonders. In conclusion, the Macau Goddess of Mercy statue is a stunning masterpiece, and it’s a testament to the beauty of Buddhism. The statue's intricate design, size, and symbolism make it an essential and valuable cultural landmark in Macau. The Statue of the Goddess of Mercy is one of the most spiritually uplifting monuments, and is well worth visiting as it invokes a sense of peace, hope, and inspiration.

The satue stands tall at an edge of the water in the middle of the city. its a wuite place with photo spot. we have visited in the noon time soon after we reached Macau. Staff were friendly to guide us to know the history of the place and importance of the statue. I think it would be more beautiful if it had beed visited in the evenings time. Macau is quite hot and tropic weather most favorable to enjoy this place in noon time. I suggest to vist this place with friends and family for knowing the place and take some rest inside the dome under the statue in the hot sun.
