The hotel has a good location in the city. It has a lot of nearby shops, restaurants and other hotels with casinos. It is like a good 20 minute walk to Senado Square and Ruins of St. Paul. We got there from the airport through a free shuttle bus to Grand Lisboa (green bus - just take real note of the bus signs and be patient on waiting). Then we walk from Grand Lisboa to Emperor Hotel. The bus terminal is just a 5 to 10 minute walk. Almost all shops are open 24/7. It's like the city never sleeps. They will ask you to make a cash deposit of 1000hkd upfront so be ready. For credit card, they will just give you a receipt for authentication, they won't debit it automatically. Your 1000hkd will be returned upon checkout if you didn't get anything from the hotel. There's also a convenience store with fruit shop nearby. The hotel give complimentary fruits, coffee, tea and bottled waters though. In family suite which we got, it has 1 queen sized bed with 2 twin beds. The masters bedroom has a partition door for privacy. The elevators smell of cigarettes even though nobody smokes. It's weird. They are pretty strict with breakfast hours in buffet and please don't lose the pink free buffet stubs as they are strict about those too. Staff needs improvement in hospitality and to smile more often but I still give this hotel a 4 because the family suite is just right for us and its really...
Read moreStay was disappointing. They did not reverse the credit card deposit. Rooms smell of cigarette smoke. We asked for non-smoking room. They put us, the first night, in a room on the 20th floor (2006 if i´m not mistaken). The room smelled musty, dusty and cigarette. We complained, but they could only change our room the other day. Unfortunately the second room, on floor 19th (1924 if i am not mistaken) also smelled of cigarette and dust - the advantage of this is that it had no mold. Our clothes are impregnated with the smell fo cigarettes. The hotel has no windows (to open). The air is renewed by the air-conditioning system and with it all the air is contaminated with the smoke coming from the rooms of smokers. To conclude i discovered tha they did not reimburse my credit card. Unfortunately i only discovered this when the invoice arrived for me, now in april. Woul not recommend this hotel to non-smokers, and to families whith children. I still have not been able to contact the hotel to review my credit ($1,000 - one...
Read moreFor the price, the Emperor is a good value. It lacks a swimming pool which was a disappointment. We take frequent trips to Vegas, so Macau in general was a bit of a let down. There is no strip in Macau but the location of the Emperor is about as good as you'll get. It's an older luxury hotel, so the room was nice (and large) but the carpets were in desperate need of changing. There was more stained carpet than unstained. Other than the unsightly stains, the room was very clean. We ordered room service a few times. The food was pretty good and well priced. Unfortunately, we never once got what we actually ordered. They would apologize and eventually bring us the right food (except for the breakfast where they ran out of pork buns and just decided to bring us other dumplings instead) so it wasn't too important. I don't think we'll be returning to Macau but if you're looking for a little luxury while staying on a budget (and don't need a pool), the Emperor is a...
