I was excited to visit this museum because of its designer (Jean Nouvel), and while it’s no Louvre, it certainly stands out for its architectural elegance. The clean, minimalist design is striking, with a focus on open spaces and natural light. The museum opens till 9pm which means I could go on a museum date in the night time for the very first time!

The museum has four floors, each dedicated to a single exhibition. The spaciousness is impressive, allowing each collection to immerse visitors fully. The exhibitions themselves are hit-or-miss depending on your taste, but there are gems to be found. I loved the showcase of local contemporary artist Cao Fei, whose works are thought-provoking. Another standout was Olafur Eliasson’s Double Lighthouse Projection, a mesmerizing installation worth its staggering 100M price tag. The interplay of light, air, and motion is pure magic✨

4 stars for an inspiring space that’s still finding its rhythm but is well...

Caravaggio. Great selection of artwork badly displayed. Information displayed at knee height so everybody stands in the way. Barriers only 1m from artwork so everybody stands in front of each other. Lighting is not very well thought out, top edge of frame shadows on to top edge of picture, some glare and reflections.

BUT, not as busy as galleries elsewhere around the world. Maintain patience and expect to have everyone’s phone in your eye line.

Also able to see the Zeng exhibition which is less busy. Slightly better layout, interesting artist and creative...

Pudong Art Museum is a beautiful modern art museum on the river. Next to the famous Shanghai Radio Tower overlooking the river and the Bund with several Spaces for excellent exhibitions and a rooftop restaurant. Dont miss the rooftop for views. When I visited a very modern chinese metaverse artist exhibited as well as an excellent Surrealist exhibition with famous pieces by Max Ernst and others especially the Salvador Dali sculpture of the lobster phone. Also very kids friendly. In the evening you might be lucky to catch a drone show on...
