Perfect location and rooms, although the service fell short of what I was expecting. The hotel’s transfer to the hotel felt expensive, being well over three times the amount of a normal taxi, but the process was seamless and the Audi clean. It was a shame for there to be no bottled water available though and there was no conversation throughout. Upon arrival at the hotel I was left to my own devices and no offer of assistance with luggage. There was no obvious signage to indicate that reception is actually on the third floor and I had to ask one of the staff members for guidance. The check in process was fine and the main lobby is an impressive area. Polished marble everywhere with a piano in the corner was very good for first impressions, plus the view from the windows towards the Pearl TV Tower reinforced the prime location.

I had a Bund Studio room on the 16th floor. The massive door opens into a hallway area complete with two spacious wardrobes. The bedroom area was large with a huge bed, sofa and rocking armchair by one of the two floor to ceiling windows. The desk was large and there was plenty of storage across the mini bar cupboard and bedside units. The view from the windows was brilliant, offering fantastic day and night perspectives over the Bund. Relaxing music was being piped through the room on arrival which could be controlled from one side of the bed, along with all room facilities from an electronic unit. The TV was a good size but only had US News channels with English language. There were plenty of lighting options throughout the room and it was comfortable with electric sockets at one side of the bed.

The bathroom was also spacious. The sink area was large with modern sink at one end and every amenity provided. Lots of flannels, towels etc were available on a separate unit. There was a large bath, complete with headrest and TV unit built into the wall. The separate shower room had a fantastic rainforest head and separate hand held arm, along with good storage shelf. The electronic toilet was separated from the main area with a small wall and both entrances to the room could be cut off from the living area with sliding doors.

The view from the windows never got tiresome, especially sat in the arm chair. I failed to ever get the wifi to work and the room service was poor - it took many repeat calls to get anyone to answer and even when they did I had to be passed to alternative staff, was hung up on, and orders arrived wrong. Housekeeping was much better, always observing the do not disturb sign and doing a thorough job.

Breakfast is served on the level below reception. Staff greeted well but as a single diner I had to share a table with other couples. This wasn’t a problem for me, but all tables were set up for groups of four, or even more. Everywhere was clean and the buffet was fairly extensive, complete with a cooking station for hot dishes. There was a good range of ice chilled juices and pastries and typical English hot items but many of the selections were running low (just before 10am). Cutlery wasn’t replaced as plates were removed and hot drinks are self serve.

I never sampled the other dining options offered. There was minimal guidance or signage regarding any of the facilities or overview provided at check-in. Finding staff around the hotel for advice was near impossible. There’s a lounge area on the lobby level with comfortable seating and views over the Bund. Coffee machines, water and biscuits were on offer, along with some PCs if required, and the decor was in keeping with the rest of the property. As far as I could find there was no actual bar in the hotel, instead there is a ‘pop up’ cupboard in the lobby area which offer drinks for a few hours each evening.

There was minimal conversation exchanged at check out and when asking to leave a piece of luggage I had to queue at another desk. Bags are kept on the ground floor but behind the desk rather than in a...

To sum it up, it was ok. I've stayed in better 5 star hotels and I and in worse ones as well at the same price.

We stayed in a Studio room and the rooms were quite cramped, especially if you have two big suitcases. We had to keep one on the sofa most of the time due to limited space.

The view from our bathroom was amazing and was quite special to see every time we took a shower.

There were a lot amenities in the room, but I did notice that some of the use of technology wasn't needed or wasn't programmed correctly. For example, there was a large remote next to the bed which controlled everything from the lighting, blinds and air conditioning, to the TV and radio. But a lot of the buttons weren't programmed correctly and sometimes turned off the lights when you wanted to lower the temperature!

Although breakfast was included in our room rate, we never made it down in time so can't comment on that.

But we did get to make use of their happy hour, where between certain hours of the evening, the game out complimentary drinks which was nice.

All in all, a well located hotel on the Bund, slightly let down by cramped rooms, and outdated...

I stayed at this hotel with a few friends. The hotel is very good, it is stylish and the bedrooms are very comfortable and convenient. The bedrooms are good for relaxing with a nice chaise lounge strategically placed looking the bund, the beds are comfortable even the extra bed is good quality and comfortable. The bathroom are big with rain shower and bath separately. The lounge can be access 24h and also looks over the bund, there are always some snacks there and there are some free drinks around 6pm too. All and all the hotel was very good and I would recommend it to anyone, the only slightly disappointment was the staff specifically the concierge on the ground floor did not seem to be 5 star trained and not always as helpful as they could be. Two last thing I would like to mention are the location which is great if you want to walk in the bound but it is not the closest to the metro, I did not find this a problem as I like to walk and taxis are very cheap in Shanghai, secondly the breakfast which is tolerable for 3 days but if you stay any longer you might find the limited offer a...

Amazing views, great location, and extremely clean. If you want to stay at a luxurious hotel in Shanghai this is the one. I was very skeptical but the view I got was the best! I stayed in a suite with river view, I got three windows. There is also a bathtub, dimmers, a heated toilet and nice accessories. However, staff needs more work BUT I totally get it because of the language barrier. You will always find someone that speaks English but do not expect to get a full on English conversation. Breakfast was good and the best part is that I got a 9 am check in. Ask for a map or you will not get one. No cocktails for in room dining.
