Terrible. We wanted to go back to the Bund after visiting Pudong and we thought it may be a good idea to use the tunnel attraction. The ticket desk people were unbelievably unhelpful considering it’s their job to sell tickets, and there was nobody else trying to buy tickets, the place was empty. They were on their phones, watching videos, and only answered questions with yes or no, starting to watch their phones after each answer. When they realised that we would not buy the 90¥ one way ticket and that we only wanted the 50¥ also one way ticket to get to the other side they went back to their phones and stopped responding. So we gave up as they did not really want to sell us that cheaper ticket. I suspect they try this to see if we cave in and buy the more expensive ticket eventually. We walked back to the metro instead, and spent the 4¥ (only) to get back to our accommodation instead. It was so shocking. Their lack of interest, and their boredom at the job was something else, especially after having had very good service everywhere else in Shanghai. We just could not believe it and we could not stop laughing at how bad it was all the way back to our place, relieved we had not given in to it. I’d say, don’t waste your money there. And looking at the other reviews, we were not the first ones to experience this...
Read moreI would like to give a shout out to the lady in the right side of the ticketing booth (POV of customer) in the evening of June 18, 2025. There was no ride-only displayed on any of the multiple signages around the booth. So I asked her and she immediately pointed to the price for the ride bundled with not 1 or 2, but 3 other attractions. When I repeated to her I just want to take the ride, she actually told me the bundle includes the ride. Like duh. After I insisted on ride only, her face turned charcoal black and spoke to me like I murdered her whole family. Honestly I was close to walking off without riding the thing.
The ride is tacky and stupid like others have said, it's okay to take it once just to see what the fuss is about, but don't be lured in by the roundtrip discount.
It's obvious why very few people take this tunnel; the pricing is incongruent with what goods and services generally cost in Shanghai. The rail runs continuously, regardless of whether the carriages are filled. So the right approach to make back on the investment is to lower the price, not try to trick tourists into paying for bundles with silly...
Read morei am agree with others. this facilitues is well maintenanced. it is tidy and clean. but taking note is, there is no natural thing here.. just sightseeing with flash and led with the story i dont understand.. may be if you want to entertain your children, this place may suit with you
there is also a thing about the price, to take one way trip, you should spend 50 CNY and with round tril you need to spend 75 CNY. while in first day in shanghai, i use this tunnel 2 times and i think it is a bit expensive..
for those who want more compact and cheaper.. you should try metro. if possible use ali pay instead of ticket machine. ticket machine works well tho, but using ali pay, it will make any payment including restaurant and transportation more convenience.
