It is hard to imagine traveling to Shanghai and not dropping by here. As a matter of fact, I would generally consider a trip to China incomplete without the Big Three: Shanghai's Bund, the Great Wall near Beijing and Xian's Terracotta warriors. But I digress 😉 If you walk down the main pedestrian shopping street from People's Square subway station, you will end up at the busiest and most iconic part of the Bund area. But if you walk about 10 minutes along the river, you will reach Chen Yi Park, which while still somewhat crowded, gives you a better shot at getting some nice photos without the disturbance of others getting their nice photos, as well. Pro Tip: A visit in December/January before the Chinese New Year madness kicks in is probably the best time to get a good view and beat the crowds. And in China, beating the crowds is not a minor issue, to be sure. It was not as cold in mid-afternoon as you might suspect.

This really small square holds tall trees and a larger-than-life-size statue of Chen Yi, Mayor of Shanghai from 1949 to 1958 and Minister of China between 1958 and 1972. The bronze statue stands on a high red-marble pedestal with the years, 1901-1972. Chen Yi is depicted gazing down in a Mao suit with an overcoat draped over the left arm. A separate marker gives information about him in Chinese. Located on The Bund, across the street from the Fairmont Peace Hotel and the Bank of China, the square is just below the promenade along the Huangpu River. I came down from that sun-drenched walkway for a few minutes to seek shade from one of the square's trees but there was no other reason to linger.

A very beautiful sight on the Skyscrapers of Shanghai by night. But also very enjoyable rought the day. The whole Bund is mostly very crowded, its litterly packed with people on sunday evening, where you might find it very difficult to even walk as so many poeple are there during that time. Be aware that on Bund are also alot of scammers that are waiting for male tourists (young women, mostly paired in 2)... Otherwise the scenery is really something special and if you are in Shanghai, this is definetlly a must.

It's offering the view of the famous Shanghai skylines. Due to its popularity, I was surprised to find that it wasn't too crowded on the Christmas weekends. I highly recommend visiting here at night, as the city lights create a stunning memorable backdrop for the iconic skyline. Definitely a highlight of any trip to Shanghai!

It is a small square just a step from the Bund. It’s a commemorative area to the previous mayor of Shanghai, Chen Yi. The statue is a gigantic sculpture of a man who seems proud. He must have been a good mayor. On the day of my visit, there was a handful of kids saluting the statue. It was a sight indeed.👏👏👏
