Visiting La Puntilla Park in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic was an absolute delight! 🌴🌞
This park is a hidden gem that truly captures the essence of the Caribbean. From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was greeted by a lush tropical paradise. The palm trees swayed gently in the warm breeze, and the vibrant flowers added a burst of color to the landscape.
One of the highlights of La Puntilla Park is its stunning waterfront location. The views of the Atlantic Ocean were simply breathtaking, and the sound of the waves crashing against the shoreline created a serene and relaxing atmosphere. It's the perfect place to take a leisurely stroll along the promenade and enjoy the beauty of the sea.
The park's well-maintained pathways make it an ideal spot for walking, jogging, or simply meandering amidst nature. Families were having picnics, and children were playing on the playground, which added to the joyful ambiance.
What impressed me the most was the cleanliness and orderliness of the park. It's evident that the local authorities take great pride in preserving this natural haven for residents and visitors alike.
La Puntilla Park is not just a place of natural beauty but also a hub for community and culture. It hosts various events and gatherings, and it's heartwarming to see people from all walks of life coming together to enjoy this splendid location.

Read moreI recently visited Puerto Plata as a stop on my Norwegian Aqua cruise. Overall, I had a good time—especially the rum tour, which was both fun and informative. The local guides were engaging, the tastings were enjoyable, and the atmosphere had a great energy.
That said, the area felt overcrowded and very touristy. From the moment we docked, it was clear that the port is built to cater to cruise passengers, which can take away from the authenticity of the experience. Shops, excursions, and even the interactions felt somewhat staged and overly commercial.
Puerto Plata has some beautiful scenery and a rich culture, and I wish I had more time to explore beyond the usual tourist spots. With smaller crowds and a more local touch, this destination could be truly memorable. Still, it was a pleasant stop on the cruise—just not the kind of place I’d go out of my way...
Read moreThis is a great place to visit from the cruise port. It has beautiful views of the water and the cruise port. The fort might be the highlight of the park but the grounds are also nice to walk on. I wish it was cleaner and fixed up a bit but the views are outstanding. The fort charges a few dollars to get in. It’s small but well worth the price. The park is in a great location with nice paths to walk on. The park itself is in need of money to fix and clean things up.
