Skina Restaurante — Restaurant in Puerto Plata

We came to Skina on an excursion a couple of years ago and we loved it so much, that we returned on our own on our next visit! However, when we arrived we were denied entry because they had an excursion arriving. But we saw a group sitting there that were walk-ins like us. We pointed that out, so they allowed us in and sat us at the bar area. It was uncomfortable but we really wanted the sancocho. It was delicious but it was annoying we weren't seated at a regular table like the walk-ins in front of us. I guess we didn't look like the tourists that were there, we look latin so I feel they discriminate if you don't look like you're a certain race. But, I will give 5 stars because the food was amazing and the price point was not insane like other restaurants in PuertoPlata. I don't think we'll give this place another visit. Terrible service and overpriced food. Our waitress was rude from the moment we arrived, which was strange because RD people are so friendly. We were told our order would take 40 minutes but after 1&1/2 hours our food was still not served. Finally, we were told only 5 minutes more, but it took another 15 minutes. My son ordered chicken fajitas which was a huge plate of mostly peppers and onion, very little chicken and only 3 tortillas. We asked for more tortillas. No apologies, and we were charged 75 pesos for 3 extra tortillas. Food 5 stars..... Service 3 stars. Food is amazing. I had the Sancocho... and it was so good. Husband had the chuleta (pork chop) and was delicious. Friends ordered fajitas and ox tail.... both Delish!!!!

Service could be better. I was going to give 3 stars because of service, but the food IS good.

I ordered a water bottle and it took 10 minutes to get it. We were ready and wanted to order but it took the wait staff another 6-7 minutes to take our order.
