Heaven on Earth! The Uvita Waterfall was an incredible experience that I will forever remember. A natural waterfall nestled in pristine jungle that you can slide down! It was rather busy when I went during the week, around 10-11am. The park opens at 7am, so I suggest going early if you want to experience less people! However, the park is so big that I was able to find my own little 'waterfall' and pool to wade in on my own. Security didn't feel like an issue, but be safe. As a solo traveller, I stuffed my backpack in the jungle and when I came back to it, it was untouched. Small fee to enter the park. Areas to cliff jump. Very shady spot, and fresh, cool water. Saw many blue morpho butterflies through the jungle and a troop of howler monkeys moved through. If you want to ride the slide, don't worry about the sketchy 'stairs' on the rock face. (I tried and could only get halfway up.) There is a nature path to the left of the pool, and go up that way. My mom and dad could do it, so you can do it too!! Slide is SMOOTH as silk, and pool below is very deep. I did not touch the bottom. Don't miss out on this...
Read moreSuch a fun way to spend a couple of hours! After a short walk through the jungle, you get to the main attraction, the waterfall. You can walk with flip flops as most of it is cleared, we used sneakers but left barefoot. There were a lot of people (today is the start of Semana Santa), but everyone was really respectful and happy to be there. My 10 y.o. daughter was so scared, but after 10 minutes of prodding she finally went and everyone cheered for her! It made her feel so good! My 8 y.o. son also went down the slide 6 times! If you want to escape the crowd and chill, there are plenty of quiter spots down river that you can find a nice rock to park on and swim around. Would definitely go again if I was in the area longer...my kids, husband and I all loved it. Anyone who is a thrill seeker or likes an adrenaline rush will too! (The photo is my 8 y.o. son going down the slide and my...
Read moreGreat place to stop by. We went with our 2 kids (7&9), and while we were there, they already said they wanted to come back. There are 3 pools. And are more or less by degree of difficulty to enjoy. The first by the waterfall has almost no place for your stuff, and requires a lot of courage to do the natural slide from the top of the waterfall. The second is for those with courage to jump into the pool from about 3 meters up. The 3rd is a fun, calm pool with a nice current on the side for the children to swim to and play with. Great fun to swim around, or jump.
About the entrances. Notice the bottom one has an extra butterfly farm. You can get to everything easily from both sides. So I'd suggest the bottom of you want the butterflies. Just keep in mind the waterfall itself is at the top. And the bottom entrance requires some additional 5...
