After a pretty bad accident on the road to this lodge in LaFortuna CR. The front desk allowed us ladies (we had 3 rooms total) to checkout at 12noon instead of 11am. We enjoyed the hot springs so we ran an honest 7min late exiting the casita. I had cleared out and left my bags on the porch of my casita while I went back to pay the inside bar for the drinks we had ordered but I didn't have my wallet. When I returned to get my bags from "Outside on the porch" the manager María went ballistic, shouting, she walks inside the casita and pointed to the sign on the wall that read 11am checkout. I explained that we were given a 12noon checkout due to late night arrival and accident trauma. She kept shouting and waving her hands. She then shouted that she was going to call the police on us for exiting 8min after noon. At 12:08 we had checked out and were waiting on our taxi since we no longer had a car. The police arrived at 12:21pm. When I spoke with the police..the officer laughed that she called police on us! The police said just continue on, but my feelings were So Hurt by such an overreaction on the manager Maria's part and the major disrespect she displayed by shouting at me and calling police on 3 ladies, who booked these rooms 4 mths ago and were looking forward to a good stay, but for a major accident and Maria treating us like criminals!!
I've stayed here 3 times before! As much as I like this place...I can Never spend my money with someone who calls the authorities on 3 mature ladies!.. If the police were jerks too..this incident could have gone really badly causing us to be arrested because of a hot-headed manager. I hope that the owners will correct their staff to speak with the front reception about each room before allowing staff like Maria to shout accusations at guests.
Btw- As I walk back to front reception, I say "excuse me" to Maria as she is walking my direction. She totally ignored me like I had done something to her.. she acted like it was a personal issue not a few minutes overstay in pre-paid rooms.
This incident occurred at The Thermalitas, La...
Read moreAfter a night of Camping and a full day of rafting in Siripiqui, we wanted to stay somewhere to soak in the hot springs, have a hot shower and grab some food, before a longer drive to El Coco. Relax was about 1hr from our camping and was very affordable- IF you book direct with them. It included the hot spring soaks. We arrived at 3pm, VERY busy with families have a great time. The side with the pirate ship is designed for the kids to have fun and the "green" side is lovely for relaxing when the sun goes down. We head to the baths around 530/6pm and it was much quieter. Lovely to soak in the baths, some are quite hot, and others cool, perfect for easing the day. There is also a hot pool next to the bar, perfect. The slide area is cooler( not cold) and everyone was having fun. I can see the great appeal of spending the day here with a family ( we are a couple) Lots of picnic areas and you can bring in your own food. Fantastic budget option. Looks to be a fantastic host to local families and tourists. We stayed in a container room, brand new, lots of parking and felt safe. We had a new door lock issue, they fixed asap. We used google translate ( they were very accommodating) ordered breakfast, 3.00US each that they bring to your door in the AM. We did the hot pools again in the am ( check out is 11) only started to get busy when we were leaving. We did eat at the restaurant on location. Food was decent. Fajita and quesadilla. I recommend this for affordability, cleanliness of the rooms, there is a restaurant on site, but 10 min down the road from sodas. And if a clear day ( we had rain) you will have one of the best...
Read moreThis is based on my personal experience and mainly aimed for the service and management. I came at night after a long day of drive hoping I could relax and surrender to the sounds of nature. I checked a video that looked great during the day and the place seemed very relaxing. The price 5000C definitely beats all the competitors in the area and the facility has the potential to be a great spa. Only when we went in to the pools there was loud music of regatón and a bar serving alcohol. The changing artificial lights in the night made it look like some kind of cheap pool party. I asked the bartender who was about 22 years to lower the music as we wanted to go to the pool next to the bar and there was no one else around us and he rudely refused not giving any explanation. I then went to the reception and told them I’d like to speak with the manager, but they just ignored me. The stuff looked to me in their 20’s they didn’t really have any idea of customer service . It’s such a pity because the place is really well invested and has a potential to be a really good spa as the name suggested. But maybe it’s was just deceiving and the aim is to be something else.
So I suggest the management to invest time educating your personal on customer service and maybe change the name if your catch is to be a reggeton music and serve alcoholic drinks at night.
So for me if you are looking for a relaxing thermals in the night don’t go to this place.
P.s For cheap experience in a quality facility this might be a fantastic experience during...
