We chose to book this tour as we didn't want to visit sloths in a park. Parks are too similar to zoos - we can do that at home! and there is always the worry that the sloths are brought in to generate revenue.
Our tour was a minibus with Ernesto as our very knowledgeable & friendly guide. An early pick up at our hotel at 06:00 on a beautiful sunny morning. We drove very short distances around the town to areas and trees the sloths are known to visit and we saw 5 or 6. Some were high up, or hard to see because of the sun, but we had a great view of others, and Ernesto's scope made them even clearer. He had binoculars for everyone too, and kindly also took photos with everyone's phone through the scope. Towards the end of the tour we also drove through a typical Costa Rican farm which was interesting to see, and saw a caiman too The tour finished with breakfast, although several of our group opted not to enjoy that. The 3 of us that did had a great breakfast of pancakes or eggs to our liking, with time to talk with each other and Ernesto. All in, a great tour to see the area and some of...
Read moreWhat an amazing experience! Our family of 4, two kids age 10 and 12 had a 3pm slothquest tour with Edson. To start, he was punctual and had a nice clean Van for the tour. Out afternoon looking for sloths far exceeded our expectations! We had such a fantastic experience and saw so many sloths, monkeys and toucans in their natural environment. Some of the sloths were just in people’s backyards! Edson was so kind and connected so well with our kids. We then had a delicious meal which was advertised as a snack, at the tour headquarters which was a beautiful place to visit itself! I would highly Recommend booking a tour with Callidryas. There are many more touristy spots that have sloths on display. However, seeing them in their natural State is so much more appealing and really...
Read moreWe had a fantastic time on the sloth tour!! They drove us to two different areas that were known for having sloths and we ended up seeing 7 of them in the wild! Our tour guide provided us with binoculars as the sloths were pretty high in the trees and a little hard to see without them. The tour guide also had a telescope so we were able to get an even better look at the sloths, when it was zoomed in, you could see every hair on the sloths.
The tour guides were very knowledgeable and even pointed out some birds, monkeys and other wildlife. When we saw the monkeys our tour guide made some monkey noises of his own which caused the monkeys to call back to us which was really fun.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see Costa Rica's wildlife in their own...
