First the good: the atmosphere and ambiance were great. We love the decor and vibes. It was actually why we chose this restaurant in the first place for dinner bc it looked nice. 2nd the drinks were good. I'm picky with drinks as most drinks are too sweet and loaded with sugar but they had some nice healthy drink options with real fruits and greens. Just a tip on the cocktails though, my husband got the passion fruit daiquiri but didn't taste alcohol at all so don't expect a strong pour, you might as well just order the cheaper smoothies.
The bad: Service was horrible and seemed totally disorganized. Our server took our order and then returned 3 to 5 minutes later to ask if we've already ordered Lol. It was kinda comical actually. Then after a long wait, we got totally wrong drinks brought to us. After telling them our drinks order again it was another long wait to get our correct drinks. Then the wrong main dishes were brought to us! 😣 Then we waited a long time for the correct dishes to be brought to us. There were no apologies for getting both our drinks and food orders wrong or for the long wait. Here's the worse part: I got the fettuccini with loins (steak) and it was the saltiest dish I have ever eaten in my life! It tasted as if the chef accidentally spilled a whole bottle of salt into it! It was so salty that I suspected it was tampered with bc I can't imagine a chef adding that much salt intentionally. And this is coming from someone who always adds extra salt to my food. I had to force myself to finish most of it bc I was hungry and didn't want to have to go to another restaurant after this. Also I didn't want to return it to the kitchen and risk waiting over an hour for the food again! Overall it was the worse meal and service of our Costa Rican trip and I wouldn't go back and can't...
Read moreThis place is amazing! We just ate here tonight. We ate at a great restaurant last night so the bar was pretty high for La Fortuna and I wasn’t sure I could find a meal as good. I was wrong!
For an appetizer my wife and I shared the Aztec soup. It was like tortilla soup-but the best I have ever had. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Great flavor, really tender.
I got the Lomo Saltado, traditionally a Peruvian food, but here they added the twist of a fried egg on top. It was so good! The hot sauce they brought was excellent as well—spicy but with a great flavor, a little tangy, went great with my meal and even the soup.
My wife got the Chante Verde Deluxe burger. It was so good she made me try it. The beef patty was perfect, the flavors and sauces also fantastic.
The fries were great. The salad was really good too. I’m usually a ranch dressing guy but the Passionfruit vinaigrette was sweet, tangy, but not sour and I loved it.
After our meal they asked if we wanted dessert. Since everything else had been so awesome I just told our server to surprise us. He brought us churros with ice cream. The caramel sauce was great and the churros were cooked perfectly—crispy on the outside with a nice soft doughy center.
They make all of their ingredients in house and it was obvious because the flavors were so incredible!!!
If this hadn’t been our last night here in La Fortuna I would’ve come...
