We stayed in one of their small cabins close to the river. The grounds are spectacular, kept up very nicely with lots of flora and some fauna. ||The breakfast provided was excellent, the food was great and the service was exceptional. They would put fruit out on the ledge so many of the local, colorful and varied birds would put on a show. That made breakfast the most important meal of the day!||We were checked in by Diego, he was extraordinarily helpful and friendly. He walked us out to our units, which was quite a ways to go.||We experienced a long, loud downpour, which I recorded to create a wonderful tropical rainstorm whitenoise for restful sleep.||The walkway to our units, the last one down the path, was made up of rectangular blocks, which were spaced a few inches apart. This made hauling our suitcase an old school experience. In other words, I had to pick it up by its handle, because trying to wheel it would’ve broken the wheels off. The blocks were also hazardous to walk on, especially in the dark, a stumble could’ve been a vacation ruining event.||Our cabin appeared to be older that some of the others and so it lacked some basics. There was nowhere to hang anything up, including our bath towels. There was no chair, the only flat surface was a small table that was a tripping hazard with its attractive, but awkward legs. ||The shower was an outdoor shower, which is pretty cool, but it took a long time to get the hot water flowing. ||We did have a small deck with two Adirondack style chairs. The roof over them was a bit leaky, so sitting out there in the rain was only possible directly after your shower.||We also had family in another bungalow, that one had more of the necessities, i.e., table, a place to hang up clothes and shelving. The only things it lacked was the outdoor shower and direct proximity to the river.||The wifi was spotty, even though there was a repeater...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem in the middle of lush, green trees not too far from La Fortuna town. The place/surroundings were simply awesome. All the 3 days we stayed, it was drizzling gently and it was a great sight to sit outside the room and watch the scenery. It was mesmerizing. It was magical. Rooms were very clean and impeccable but no microwave in the room - which was ok. No big deal. The room didn't have wardrobe or storage which was not a big deal. The service folks were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was unlimited and simply great. They had variety - Costa Rican b/f, coffee, fruits and vegetarian friendly. All of us loved the breakfast and the hospitality. We would definitely go back to this place in the future, in a heartbeat. The location is magical - surrounded by lush green trees, drizzling, we could birds chirping/cawing/tweeting in the morning - which was so calming to the mind in the morning. There was a river stream flowing right next to the place which was another calming experience. We could hear the stream flow 24x7 and anyone could be lost just sitting there and listening to the water sound. One of the days, we saw a Toucan bird on one of the trees. Took a lot of pictures around the property. Overall, don't miss this gem. The owners were very nice and courteous. Arames, the breakfast server was very friendly and courteous. Oh, one more thing....La Fortuna waterfall is only 6 mins drive away from the property. We went early to see the waterfall and it was magical. I suggest you go early and enjoy the waterfall with minimal crowd. Only con was that the hot water (shower) was...
Read moreGreat place as home base, wonderful staff, clean and beautiful grounds. It wouldn't be good to bring kids to stay, not much for them to do on site. The restaurant was decent, great service, but a limited menu. I think the restaurant is recent since previous reviews talked of breakfast at your cabin, that doesn't happen any more. If you don't have a car, there isn't much in the way of restaurant selection nearby. 3 or 4 within 500m. There is a new Soda opened down a lane way about 100m to the west on the north side, simple but good CR food. We were in a newer cabin, I don't know what the others were like but ours was nice. Simple and clean, the bed was decent. Good shower but a little cool (welcome at times actually). AC worked well once we figured out the remote. All things considered, a nice place to stay, but not if you need amenities like gyms, pools and that...
