I must be living in an alternate universe. We took guidance from TripAdviser and Audley reviews when choosing Si Como No. We are seasoned travellers. This is not a 4 star or even 3 star hotel. We don’t understand the reviews? First off, read their cancellation policy CAREFULLY. We booked and less than two days later requested to cancel. Valerie Ovarez refused to refund us stating its “too close” a window to the arrival although it was nearly two months out. Quite shocking from a hotel that seemed to have a good reputation. I can only assume they really needed our money. So my advise, read the fine print before booking. We got there after 10 previous outstanding stays in Arenal ( La Finca Lodge) Nosara ( Tierra Magnifica) Monteverde (Hidden Canopies and Koora Lodge). Without any hesitation , all these hotels get an enthusiastic 5 stars thumbs up. Then we arrived at Si Como No Front reception staff particularly Christopher were extremely nice!! The views outstanding! That’s where the positives end. This place needs a complete overhaul. It is tired! It sits on the busy road of Manuel Antonio. The grounds have been patched up and painted so many times over to hide the deficiencies. We entered the room to a funky smell. They said the air conditioner was off but this morning it’s still there. The furniture is scratched up, seat covers stained and gross. I think the government should check the rooms for mold. There clear evidence of mold in the shower. We went to the pool after a 5 hour drive and there were no chairs. People were laying on towels on the concrete!! 4 stars? The seat cushions were also stained and unappealing although they are leatherette so there’s no excuse not to have someone clean them every few days. Afternoon music was cranked up although it’s supposed to be the “ adult” pool. I could take pictures of the pool athe patch jobs, the upper pool seemed caked with sunscreen. My husband woke up and for the first time this trip he complained of a back ache. Thankfully this was not the case for me Met a couple this morning who said they paid for what they thought was the highest level accommodations. Omg the description of their room ( which was changed) went beyond words. Their bed faced a wall. The couches, I believe 3, were torn, they had no water. Keep in mind in fairness this is second hand info. We didn’t see it but suffice it to say they are very upset. They agreed the place needs a facelift. I just saw there review on tripadviser! Look at their photos! Loud music was piped into the breakfast area. Service was so slow because we moved to an upper level to avoid the noise but it was HOT. Our choices… loud music or heat first thing in the morning, we chose the heat. I included a picture of their buffet’s scrambled eggs. What are your thoughts? If you are looking for a quiet retreat this is NOT the place to come. We are sitting at the adult pool listening to constant road noise from motorcycles, trucks and cars just behind us. We were also told not to bring our car to the beach. It wasn’t safe. I’d say travel a little further to Dominical or Uvita. If you choose MA we do not recommend this hotel. At best we give it 2.5 stars. We always try to find the best out of a bad situation but there’s no finding anything positive about this rundown hotel We couldn’t wait to leave. We went down the coast a short distance to Oxygen Villas. Now there’s a fabulous hotel and an easy drive to Manuel Antonio park and the Unitas Fish tail beach!

We just stayed here for almost a week. Came in late March. It was an excellent experience. The location overlooks the Pacific ocean from every room and space no matter where you go in the resort. The room was very spacious with a wrap around balcony. The beds were very comfortable and full kitchen was great. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The concierge service was extremely helpful in planning sightseeing tours. We dealt with Candy from concierge. I would recommend going through her at the hotel as the tour companies she connected us with were very good. Each experience was worth it. One of the companies learned it was my son's birthday and surprised us with a birthday cake at the end! All the tours picked us up from the hotel so it was very convenient. Breakfast was included at the RicoTico cafe. The menu included several items like a green crepe with smoked fish, stuffed omelette, a traditional Costa Rican breakfast and many more regular continental items. It was very filling so you could almost skip lunch and just relax by the pool sipping on their delicious fruit smoothies. Fresh cut fruit and pancakes were my son's favorite. Also, try the special reserve real rum. They don't make it any more. It's worth every dollar. Our server was usually Allen, who was a very gracious host. He even helped us order pizza one night from outside. Since they have their own little jungle preserve, every day we saw monkeys and exotic birds by just sitting in our room balcony. The pool ares with the slide is a lot of fun for the kids. They actually climb up the waterfall and slide down. Adults can do it too! Overall, I would give this place 10 stars!

So Como No was a little slice of heaven. You could feel your muscles relax as soon as you stepped through the lobby. We travelled with our 2 kids, ages 9 and 11 and stayed in a deluxe plus room. We had a king sized bed and a fold out couch/hide-a-bed. Would have been nice to have 2 actual beds, but this worked ok. The bathroom was quite large as well. The balcony with two rocking chairs and a table were a little cherry on top. The views from our room over the jungle and ocean were unbeatable. Our kids loved the family pool with the slide and waterfall, it was a little jungle gym for them. The pool area never felt crowded. The restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive around the pool area as well. We mostly had rain while we were in Costa Rica, but I think this contributed to the magic and the relaxation of the vacation. We sat at the pool deck area overlooking the jungle and ocean for hours. We enjoyed our breakfast every morning, with occasional monkey visitors. And ate out at other restaurants around Manuel Antonio for dinner. Typically we snacked at Rico Tico and didn’t actually eat a full lunch, but the food was tasty at all meals. Everything is walkable, even though the main road is busy, everyone is used to people walking that it felt safe to walk to/from hotel to other places. Our kids favorite part was the sloth that we saw every day hanging in its tree, a monkeys making their way through the property every morning. We zip lined across the street at Sukia park and did their night tour (a favorite activity of the kids who got to spot many new critters). This hotel was truly a gem, we really don’t want to leave the property.

We stayed at Si Como No resort for a family vacation. It was the last stop on a 10 night stay in CR. First and foremost, the service here was phenomenal! Everyone we met was so friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast wait staff! They were our favorites. We had 2 rooms since we had our kids, 18 & 22, with us. Our rooms were next door to each other which made it easier. Although the rooms seem a bit outdated in decor, they are clean and comfortable and not really worn out. We loved the view from our balcony. We saw lots of wildlife on resort grounds such as capuchin monkeys and toucans! We even got a nice show from the monkeys one morning on our way to breakfast. They were tumbling and chasing each other all over the glass roof of the lobby and in and out of the trees. One even had a baby on her back! The pools are great. The family pool has a waterslide and swim up bar. The adult pool also has a swim up bar and a separate hot tub. There are 2 restaurants and a gift shop/art gallery. We liked the feel of Rico Tico, which is where breakfast is served, better than Claro que si. We didn't eat at Claro but sat and had drinks while listening to the live music. The lighting was very bright and abrasive for night time. We had some fabulous food at Rico Tico for dinner although a bit pricey. It is easy to walk to a couple of other restaurants and shops from the resort. We walked down to El Avion restaurant.

They really need to update the rooms. The net on the screen door was torn in different places which meant that I could not leave the balcony door open. The shower drainer was completely out, and I was terrified that something climbed up during the night. Lol There were water stains on the walls. The paint was peeling all around the walls. The front door was so old it had cracks on it. The landline (phone) was a prop. They plugged the phone line into the wall, but the phone itself did not have a wire connecting it to the wall. So, the phone just didn't work because there was no electricity to it. I did not realize this until I tried to call reception. Only one outlet in the bedroom worked. The rest sparked visible fire and burnt out. That was actually scary. Customer service was varingly. Reception was bad. They took my number and told me that I will receive a WhatsApp message, and that I would be able to communicate through WhatsApp. This did not happen. The next day, I went to their website and got the WhatsApp information. Concierge was good, but it depends on who you get. Some of them do not want to help. Restaurant staff were amazing. House cleaning was amazing.

I honestly cannot say enough about how magical and beautiful this hotel is. It is absolute paradise! The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. The property is gorgeous and surrounded by all kinds of amazing animals. We saw tons of toucans in the trees right outside our balcony. Big red macaws and green parakeets, iguanas galore, etc. We visited the butterfly pavilion across the street and saw a bunch of Capuchin monkeys. The pool was lovely and the views are incredible. The staff went above and beyond - especially when I left our passports in our hotel safe and we were getting ready to board our flight. They rushed to get them to us at the airport. This is the most incredible hotel in Quepos!
