La Porta Vecchia o Arco Romano non è un arco romano, come si riteneva in passato, bensì la caratteristica entrata principale al cuore dell’antico comando della romana Tarsatica, l'antica città sulle cui rovine venne eretta la Rijeka (Fiume) medievale. Il nome di Arco Romano fu gradualmente introdotto a partire dal Classicismo, quando si iniziò a effettuare ricerche sulla sua storia. Praticamente ora si trova nel vecchio centro storico della città di Rijeka una città abbastanza interessante da visitare perchè ha molti palazzi storici e musei.

Se trata de un arco que pasaba desapercibido pero suponía la entrada por el Cardo de la ciudad. Poco después podremos ver ruinas romanas debidamente conservadas.

Todo el conjunto se construyó entre los siglos V a I aC. Hay que recordar que esta fue una de las primeras zonas romanizadas fuera de la península itálica.
