When it comes to exquisite dining experiences that combine warm hospitality with authentic flavors, Balkanika in Paphos truly excels. Tucked away close to a busy avenue, the restaurant remarkably maintains an atmosphere that is both intimate and serene, shielding diners from the bustling outside world.
From the moment we walked in with our toddler, we were welcomed by a friendly staff who went above and beyond to make our meal memorable. Our waiter was knowledgeable and provided excellent menu recommendations tailored to our taste preferences. When our toddler started to get restless, a waitress graciously helped entertain her, giving us a much-needed respite.
Now, onto the food—oh, the glorious food! A must-try from their menu is the selection of Bulgarian starters. The lutenica was particularly remarkable, capturing the essence of Bulgarian culinary traditions in every bite. Complementing this were servings of purlenka bread with garlic, a delectable affair that whetted our appetites for the main course.
For the main event, we decided to try the sach—a hearty dish with processed cheese that was nothing short of exceptional. It was the perfect blend of flavors, making it clear why it’s a celebrated specialty.
Don't forget to delve into their impressive assortment of beverages that aptly complement the meal. Whether you're a fan of wine, spirits, or non-alcoholic options, there's something for everyone.
Moreover, if you're curious about Cypriot cuisine, Balkanika has you covered with a range of local specialties also featured on the menu.
In conclusion, we cannot recommend Balkanika enough. We're definitely planning another visit and encourage anyone in Paphos seeking a sublime dining experience to give it a try. Whether you're a family with children, a couple, or simply someone looking to enjoy great food in a wonderful setting, Balkanika delivers...
Read moreI wish we came here on the first day of our holiday, unfortunately we waited until the last, would have loved to come here again and tried even more food and will definitely do so if we ever return to Cyprus!
We had the fish meze for two and with two bottles of Pepsi for a total of just under €56 and it was well worth it!
All the courses were perfect, I don't even like salad usually, but I even thought the salad was good! And again, everything was amazing, but the octopus was legitimately the best octopus I've ever eaten in my life.
The food wasn't just delicious it was also presented beautifully, and portioned perfectly, it was a very filling 3 course meal but it wasn't so filling that you are left unable to finish and was nicely paced and portioned.
The service was really good too, very well mannered, well presented, and helpful staff, who made sure to let us know what each part of each course was as well as make sure we were enjoying it throughout. The restaurant was also well presented, very clean looking, and overall very nice, they had music on in the background (but not too loud as to disturb conversation - just right), situated about 5 minutes from the sea too!
Another family sat nearby had another dish that the staff told us was their signature dish and it looked amazing, and I'm sad I won't be able to try it before I leave tomorrow but, again if I'm ever back in Cyprus I'm coming here and trying that dish!
One of the highlights of our trip,...
Read moreKind service but the food was disappointing. We had two meat meze and firstly it was much too much food for two you felt really bad that all this food will be throw away. The starter was a really standard Salat without any spice but it was okay. The pita was really good. The dips were okay. Second plate were egg which was okay but nothing special and mushrooms were good, the meat in wine plates were not tasty. The haloumi was tasting only like the old rests of the dirt of the bbq were it was grilled on. Third plate the meat with chips. The chips were okay. Every meat was not tasty at all, don't get me wrong I am not vegetarian but everything was grilled really dark and not good spiced again. The lamp I was eating it for than one minute but weren't able to swallow it because it was so dry and stretchy .. and burned too It was a really disappointing visit, loud street and loud other guests were supporting the bad experience in the restaurant, don't get the Google rating of 4.8 maybe we had the wrong food and we should have gone for Bulgarian food but then don't offer it. And like for a lot of restaurant in Cyprus, quantity is not...
