Every Zoo placed in larger cities are quiet large and this Zoo is not different. You need to be prepared for a lot of walking or decide to take two visits such I did. On the first visit, I walked through the first part of the zoo of the bottom part of the Zoo. On the second visit I was more focusing on the other part which is on the hill of the zoo. The largest one is the bottom one and most of the animals are placed there. This Zoo has lots of sea animals that other Zoos in Czech Republic has not. There are large enclosures for animals to let them feel more like them nature environment, but still reacheable to see them. In the zoo there are lots of refreshments when you can purchase some burger or hot dogs or some chips. But also inside the Zoo are a few good restaurants where you can get a good lunch, so people staying there with families. Not just visiting the zoo, but in the zoo spending family time. I also noticed that there are lots of boards which is to trying to educate people about the earth, environment and about animals. Time.to time zoo management providing educational seminars about animals. Also over summer there were running inside the Zoo a live concert. An interesting was also they are trying some sort of spiritual way to present the large enclosure of elephants and that they are link with the India philosophy of living with the elephants and it is well attractive way presented. Because the Zoo is so large many people ending their visit there on the bottom part of Zoo. Regarding the second part of the zoo on the hill, there is not so many animals where is more larger animals placed in larger enclosures. Still you can walk through when you get on the hill on the top. You can walk up on the hill or you can take the way wired rope. It is quite fun that in zoo you can use the way wired rope on the top and it is kind of additional entertainment which I like it. Of course you need to pay additional fee which is not that much. You can also see from the way on the top the Zoo from a high which was also new. Definitely if you are not afraid of highs let's try it. It is not a bad idea to get this way to use the transport on the hill as well. Anyway, I think because is that large Zoo and over summer can be very hot snd then you will take some lunch or some small refreshments and that all will take you at least a half day and then most likely wiil end the visit there on the bottom and will think return back on another time to visit again this nice Zoo. Regards admission it is not that expensive The admission for adult is 250 Czech Krona which is 10 euros, and families can purchase family ticket and that well...
Read morePrague Zoo is hands down one of the best ways to spend a day in this beautiful city—unless, of course, you don’t enjoy extremely happy animals, stunning views, and an abundance of snack options, in which case, why are you even at a zoo?
From the moment you walk in, Prague Zoo impresses you with its sheer size and organization. Seriously, this place is massive—expect to walk a lot, and prepare for some uphill trekking. But don’t worry, they’ve got a funicular to give you a ride if the slopes start to feel like an Olympic event! You’ll get an incredible view of the city and the Vltava River from the top, making it worth every step (or lazy tram ride).
The animal enclosures are spacious and thoughtfully designed. The zoo clearly puts the animals’ welfare first, which is a nice change from some of the cramped zoos I’ve seen. The gorillas? Living their best lives. The elephants? Straight up having a spa day. And don’t get me started on the penguins—they have a whole Antarctic kingdom going on, complete with icy waters to dive into and rocks to waddle over.
One of the highlights has to be the Indonesian Jungle Pavilion. Walking in is like stepping into a lush rainforest, with monkeys swinging above and reptiles lurking nearby. And if you’ve never locked eyes with a Komodo dragon while internally debating if you’d survive an encounter, you’re missing out.
Oh, and the food options? Surprisingly solid! They have everything from hot dogs to a variety of local snacks and ice creams (which you’ll need after walking about 15,000 steps).
All in all, Prague Zoo is one of those places where you’ll have just as much fun as the kids, if not more. It’s equal parts an animal sanctuary, a nature hike, and a theme park with gorgeous views. So grab your camera, your comfy shoes, and your curiosity—this zoo is not...
Read moreWhen I went to buy a ticket I was immediately yelled at in Czech, and being an English speaker I didn’t know why or what I did to trigger this. I asked if I got 5% off with the monthly bus pass I had and showed the lady my pass, which triggered even more yelling. She then got the ticket ready and I paid, not knowing if I actually got the discount or not. Once the receipt was printing I asked for a receipt and she said “NO”. And I said please can I have the receipt? That triggered her to start yelling even worse in Czech. I didn’t give her any attitude or raise my voice even when she was yelling at me, so I think me speaking English made me her frustrated.
I understand the language barrier must be frustrating and dealing with tourists and what not but to be yelled at for no reason was horrible. I ended up going to a bench and crying since I was overwhelmed and couldn’t believe that happened.
I did reach out to the zoo directly and they apologized, but said I did receive a discount and I also left before they were able to give me a receipt. I was charged 314 CZK when the ticket online is 300 CZK, and I also asked for the receipt twice (as mentioned above). I do appreciate the zoo responding back to me though, and hope that maybe some training or something is done so this doesn’t happen to someone else.
The zoo itself is nice but very sad to see some animals in small areas. The leopard was pacing back and forth which isn’t a healthy sign and the polar bear’s area was quite small for something of its size. I think they are building a larger enclosure for the polar bear so hopefully it’s quite...
