Every Zoo placed in larger cities are quiet large and this Zoo is not different. You need to be prepared for a lot of walking or decide to take two visits such I did. On the first visit, I walked through the first part of the zoo of the bottom part of the Zoo. On the second visit I was more focusing on the other part which is on the hill of the zoo. The largest one is the bottom one and most of the animals are placed there. This Zoo has lots of sea animals that other Zoos in Czech Republic has not. There are large enclosures for animals to let them feel more like them nature environment, but still reacheable to see them. In the zoo there are lots of refreshments when you can purchase some burger or hot dogs or some chips. But also inside the Zoo are a few good restaurants where you can get a good lunch, so people staying there with families. Not just visiting the zoo, but in the zoo spending family time. I also noticed that there are lots of boards which is to trying to educate people about the earth, environment and about animals. Time.to time zoo management providing educational seminars about animals. Also over summer there were running inside the Zoo a live concert. An interesting was also they are trying some sort of spiritual way to present the large enclosure of elephants and that they are link with the India philosophy of living with the elephants and it is well attractive way presented. Because the Zoo is so large many people ending their visit there on the bottom part of Zoo. Regarding the second part of the zoo on the hill, there is not so many animals where is more larger animals placed in larger enclosures. Still you can walk through when you get on the hill on the top. You can walk up on the hill or you can take the way wired rope. It is quite fun that in zoo you can use the way wired rope on the top and it is kind of additional entertainment which I like it. Of course you need to pay additional fee which is not that much. You can also see from the way on the top the Zoo from a high which was also new. Definitely if you are not afraid of highs let's try it. It is not a bad idea to get this way to use the transport on the hill as well. Anyway, I think because is that large Zoo and over summer can be very hot snd then you will take some lunch or some small refreshments and that all will take you at least a half day and then most likely wiil end the visit there on the bottom and will think return back on another time to visit again this nice Zoo. Regards admission it is not that expensive The admission for adult is 250 Czech Krona which is 10 euros, and families can purchase family ticket and that well worthy visit.

Prague Zoo is hands down one of the best ways to spend a day in this beautiful city—unless, of course, you don’t enjoy extremely happy animals, stunning views, and an abundance of snack options, in which case, why are you even at a zoo? From the moment you walk in, Prague Zoo impresses you with its sheer size and organization. Seriously, this place is massive—expect to walk a lot, and prepare for some uphill trekking. But don’t worry, they’ve got a funicular to give you a ride if the slopes start to feel like an Olympic event! You’ll get an incredible view of the city and the Vltava River from the top, making it worth every step (or lazy tram ride). The animal enclosures are spacious and thoughtfully designed. The zoo clearly puts the animals’ welfare first, which is a nice change from some of the cramped zoos I’ve seen. The gorillas? Living their best lives. The elephants? Straight up having a spa day. And don’t get me started on the penguins—they have a whole Antarctic kingdom going on, complete with icy waters to dive into and rocks to waddle over. One of the highlights has to be the Indonesian Jungle Pavilion. Walking in is like stepping into a lush rainforest, with monkeys swinging above and reptiles lurking nearby. And if you’ve never locked eyes with a Komodo dragon while internally debating if you’d survive an encounter, you’re missing out. Oh, and the food options? Surprisingly solid! They have everything from hot dogs to a variety of local snacks and ice creams (which you’ll need after walking about 15,000 steps). All in all, Prague Zoo is one of those places where you’ll have just as much fun as the kids, if not more. It’s equal parts an animal sanctuary, a nature hike, and a theme park with gorgeous views. So grab your camera, your comfy shoes, and your curiosity—this zoo is not to be missed!

The zoo is really large, so you’ll need a lot of time to explore it! Also prepare to climb the hill to get to the top - make sure you read the geological info around. I was pretty disappointed by this zoo though. I like visiting zoos when I travel but this was the first time I’d really felt the ‘captivity’ element so acutely. Enclosures were quite small (the Sumatran tiger and leopard surprised me) and a large number were just dirt with animals in them. The tigers slept on concrete and the leopard enclosure had almost no vegetation - as shown in the photos. Some animals looked stressed - a lot of pacing in enclosures, and some that looked sickly. Also the other visitors left much to be desired - people banging on the glass next to sleeping tigers to try to get a photo, people ignoring ‘no dogs allowed’ signs in enclosures, even saw some people pushing their dogs past barriers to try and get closer to animals so they could get a picture of their dog with some kind of wild animal? And not a sign or zookeeper in sight to discourage it. Maybe I just went on a bad day, but this zoo felt quite poorly managed and I just didn’t see any life to these animals in a way you would in other zoos. They do seem to be making an effort to renovate but this review is based on what I could see today. Also I’m no animal expert - I’m sure the enclosures are adequate for the animals. It just doesn’t stack up to what I’ve seen elsewhere and feels like minimum care. Overall, I’d skip this attraction.

The Prague Zoo is an outstanding place for animal lovers and families. There is an extensive collection of species from all over the world, including elephants, lions, giraffes, kangaroos, penguins, and many others. Visitors can witness the majestic African elephants in their spacious enclosure, as well as observe the big cats like lions and tigers in their habitats. The giraffe exhibit provides a unique experience, with a feeding platform where visitors can hand-feed the tallest mammals on earth. The zoo also features a large aquarium section, where you can see a diverse range of sea creatures like seahorses, jellyfish, and even some species of sharks. The zoo's primates section is a must-visit, where visitors can observe gorillas, orangutans, and monkeys up close. The Prague Zoo also offers a variety of interactive experiences, such as a chance to feed the kangaroos, touch the sea stars in the aquarium's touch pool, and watch the playful penguins swim in their habitat. Additionally, the zoo's staff is knowledgeable and friendly, always happy to answer any questions and provide information about the animals. The facilities are well-maintained and the paths are easy to navigate, making for a comfortable and enjoyable visit. Overall, the Prague Zoo is a fantastic destination for animal lovers, offering a wealth of experiences for visitors of all ages. Whether you're a local or a tourist, it's a must-visit for anyone interested in wildlife

I lived in Prague 10 years and this is my 5th visit, Number 1 at least half 50% of the animals were not on show, I understand it was 30° today, and it was not that the animals sheltering from the heat, they were not in their enclosure, tigers, monkeys baboons and many more , cage after cage empty. secondly for a zoo ranked number 5 in the world, this is a joke, I had my 16 month old son and 4 year old daughter with me. I went into 5 different public toilets and every single one stunk like you couldn't imagine of urine , I mean you would have to hold your breath. This is not from 1 day of not being cleaned, there isn't a public toilet in this entire city that smelt so bad. This is disgraceful to have toilets not maintained to this extent. Then on to the kids paddling pool. The water was filthy and brown, and not from leaves falling in, just a lack of maintenance . If in the peak season when the zoo is full of children the only place for then to cool down is so dirty. 580 czk/ €23 for 1 adult and 1 child Somebody is not doing their job. If I could give less than 1 star I would. It was a horrible experience and my daughter was very disappointed. I run a tour agency and I used to recommend this zoo to my guests. Not any more. Someone in management should immediately address this. There should be a cleaning schedule on the toilet doors signed when the toilets were last checked. This is 2024 not 1984
