In spring, my daughter and I went to Prague for 3 days. We spent the last day in the botanical garden, and it was incredible. It's a wonderful place with a serene atmosphere, inclusive for people with strollers or parents with young children.
Near the Japanese garden, there's a wine bar with local wines, an incredible view of the cherry blossoms, and panoramic windows. There, I chose a quiche and cheesecake with coffee, and a babychino for my daughter. I felt so good; my daughter was sleeping, and for the first time since the beginning of the war, I relaxed and genuinely enjoyed the moment. It helped me gather strength for a while, after a really hard winter.
I met many people in Prague who support Ukraine and great full Ukrainians who are currently working there. Dear Czechs, thank you for everything!
A man was working at the wine bar; I'm so sorry I didn't find out his name. But his English was amazing, and he communicated so well with all the visitors. In the end, he said "Glory to Ukraine" - it was so heartwarming. I wish all the best for your beautiful country and people. Thank you, Czech brothers and sisters, for helping us!
*Wanted to share the 'thank you, Czechia' video from our Ministry of Defence, but I cannot add links here. Please google it on @DefenceU twitter profile, it is posted...
Read moreA shame that after you have schlepped all the way out here on a Monday and the website says it is open you get there to find that the Fata Morgana is closed. The person at the entrance speaks no English. We were charged the reduced rate despite the fact that the website says for over-70s the price is 1czk. In November, there was less to see than in some of the ordinary gardens in the city. Beware, if it is a chilly day, it is very bleak up there. Disappointing - the other old botanical garden on Na Slepy was much more interesting this time. October 25 and once again, chaos. The grandma on the gate seemed to speak nothing but Czech. Then person in front of us was renewing annual tickets, which took about ten minutes, while there was a long and growing queue behind us. At least we got the right price this time. The tickets did not open the gate. What a mess, yet again! Time to do something about this. Nothing has improved since last year. Retire the grannies and get people with some language skills as a priority. The garden was excellent but the infrastructure...
Read moreThe Botanical Garden in Prague is an absolute must-visit! Nestled on a hillside, it offers beautiful views and a peaceful, well-maintained setting that feels both magical and unusual. The grounds are immaculate, with a charming mix of nature, art, and thoughtful design throughout.
One of the highlights is the delightful little chapel tucked inside the garden, adding a quiet, almost secret charm to the place. There’s also a lovely bee garden that’s both educational and beautifully arranged. The glasshouse is a real standout—stepping inside feels like entering another world, with vibrant butterflies fluttering all around you.
The garden is full of surprises, from fascinating sculptures scattered throughout to dedicated play areas that make it a fantastic spot for families with children. Every corner offers something unique, whether you’re a plant lover, a photography enthusiast, or just looking for a peaceful escape.
