100% honesty. The resort itself is beautiful this place has prime time potential. It was designed incredibly well. The beach, the pools, landscaping and the details all around are magnificent. I am a Commercial Property Manager in Florida, the biggest issue I see is that these beautiful structures are not being maintained how they should be specifically related to airflow. DR is incredibly HOT, elevator shafts, bar areas, restaurants and even the rooms have distinct odors of mildew and I do believe it’s due to the lack of proper airflow. This resort needs to figure out how to push more cool air into rooms, bars, restaurants and indoor recreational areas (before the entire thing rots). Next I will touch on the staff. Everyone was pleasant BUT I think the heat affects their performance, it’s hard to work under such hot circumstances. BUT even being hot everyone that works here is kind and welcoming. The food… the lunch buffet near the main pool was decent. You kind of have to fail a few times before you find the goods. They had fresh grouper, a picaña steak section and plenty of good side options, look for these in particular when you go there. The fruits were all fresh and they offered great ice cream and fresh fruit juices. Kyoto Japanese was fantastic! We were 5 so I was able to taste a bit of all things. The octopus salad was devine and the Mar y Tiera (surf & turf) with the fried rice and side of veggies was simply perfect! Better than Benihana for sure! Fried ice cream dessert was the cherry on top! Circling back to my Property Manager side, Kyoto is a beautiful restaurant BUT it was soooooo HOT it was uncomfortable which was a damper on the experience. The fact that you have the hot griddles and ZERO air conditioning was excruciating. This sentiment was shared amongst all those who sat at our hibachi table. Santa Fe Steak… again HOT HOT HOT, ZERO airflow. The food is good, specifically the Churrasco but it is so incredibly difficult to have a good time when all you can think about is the heat. Fountains drinks taste like the rot I mentioned and had no carbonation (this was a common issue throughout the resort, hit or miss with carbonation). Staff is great… the heat is unbearable. Dolce Vita, this place was ok. My least favorite. BUT I’m not much of an Italian lover. The salad bar was delicious… stocked with all sorts of cheeses and charcuterie options. Rosa Eusebio attended us and she receives the ultimate gold star in service of all the restaurants. Fantastic lady! This restaurant was not as hot as the others. Mexico Lindo, this restaurant was also not as hot. The food was good here and we had a good dinner. Everyone was very nice no complaint’s. The liquor… stick to vodka, tequila or scotch. I drank absolute vodka, soda water, lime and fresh mint the majority of the time. The soda water comes from a can/bottle and you can tell the vodka is the real deal no issue with carbonation due to bottled soda water. All the fruity drinks are made with artificial stuff and the rum is weird tasting. The beer also tastes weird at SOME bars, best way to describe the beer is that lines might have mildew because that is the funky after taste we got. It’s the same mildew smell you notice around different areas of the property. But if you’re into bloody Mary’s get that and also get michelada beers! The michelada beers were so refreshing and they make them well. The circus show with the acrobatics was fantastic. The entire family enjoyed it. The pool shows were also so much fun! Both the kid pools are fantastic! As are the big main pools. As mentioned the grounds are beautiful. The beach is cleaned daily as this time of year there is a lot of seaweed. This was a major plus! There’s never an issue finding beach chairs with shade as there’s tons of palm trees all over. Just move chairs around at your leisure. Free kayaking, paddle boarding and windsurfing! And do Rent the banana boat and the chair thing and do the dolphin adventure! Please just install fans & turn on the AC for dinner!

Overall I will not be staying at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace again & here is why. For reference me and my girlfriend stayed 5 nights. First off, the check in & out process was not smooth what so ever and was very time consuming. We arrived to our resort pretty early around 11am-12pm. We waited in line for around 45 minutes - 1hr to finally check in with someone. Once we checked in they told us that our room would not be ready until 3pm which was under stable and we were 100% okay with and they told us to come back to the front desk at that time to get our room number. Once we arrived back at the front desk at that time we waited once again 45 minutes - 1hr to then only find out that we did not need to wait in that line and that the room numbers were put on to the back of our bracelets for the room. The check in lady did not know how to pull us up or fully check us in. This whole situation could have been avoided if we were told correctly that our room would be ready at 3pm and given the number at that time and told not to go in until that time. Secondly, the food at this resort was terrible. I could not wait to get back home to eat some real food. The quality of the meats and preparation of the foods was very poor. I’d say the best thing at this resort is an omelet for breakfast and that is only because it is made freshly for you. The resort has multiple restaurants that you can make reservations for that serve different kinds of foods, however if you are planning to go to these restaurants then plan to waste your entire evening. Every single time we went to a restaurant we would not get seated until 30-45 minutes after our reservation time, and then we would not end up getting our food for another 45 minutes - 1hr. The food at these restaurants were no better than the buffet that is offered and if anything is the same exact food from the buffet. Pictured in my review is a plate that I was served from their steak house which was supposed to be an 8oz steak. The drinks were what you would expect at any all inclusive. Less alcohol than normal drinks at a bar but hey the drinks are unlimited so you can definetly make up for the shortage of alcohol in each drink by drinking a larger quantity. The bartenders were very nice and took care of you efficiently and effectively. On the bright side, the room was not that bad. This was a trip with just me and my girlfriend and the room had a king sized bed, good working AC and was cleaned daily by the cleaning crew. The room included a hot tub/bath on the patio, lots of storage for clothing and items, a dual vanity for you and your significant other, robes, towels, a normal toilet and rainfall shower. The beach was not bad at all, it was very clean, had lots of seating for you and your family but did not have lots of shade. If you wanted shade you would have to find some chairs under a palm tree since they did not offer any umbrellas. The pools were also well kept and as you would expect any normal pool to be. They did offer activities like dancing, yoga/working out in the mornings, competitions and more. The places in the resort included multiple restaurants (French, Mexican, Japanese, Steak House, Sports Bar, Buffet & a few more), a casino, a theater (With nightly performances), A fitness center W/ spa, A bowling alley, Shops & More We also ended up doing an excursion to Catalina Island. This excursion was a 1hr drive to the coast to hop on a boat to go snorkeling in the caribbean sea, and then spend a couple of hours on catalina island relaxing and snorkeling. This had to be our favorite part of the trip as food and snacks were provided and we saw lots of fish and interesting things when snorkeling. Over all, if you are looking for a cheap resort to stay at the in the Dominican but do not care about quality of food or getting good service from the staff then look no further. However I will not be staying at this resort again due to my experience & There are plenty of other options when it comes to resorts in the Dominican.

The resort is about 25 min away from the airport. The resort is beautiful, very clean, the beach and pool beautiful. We couldn’t enjoy the beach much it rained most the time. Our travel dates were 11/10-11/15. The beach also had a lot of seaweed and no one cleaned it. The pools are nice. No playground for toddlers besides the kids day care. I would return here because resort is beautiful but I probably wouldn’t travel with my kids especially toddler. We ate the buffets the entire time here. Food was delicious and they had new dishes daily and many variations too choose from breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have other restaurants but we couldn’t go because they require reservations. When you check in they don’t tell you that and don’t tell you that you have to make reservations at the front desk so keep that in mind. They also have dress code no sleeves tops. Well I didn’t bring any long sleeves hell I’m in DR so we stuck with buffet. Overall I would give this resort 5 stars but I’m rating the service 3 stars and here’s why. Ordered room service three times, twice breakfast and once dinner. Breakfast is delicious we got the American breakfast twice large portions many fruits. The second time they forgot my coffee no big deal. Dinner we had spaghetti bolognese it was good but too much wine in sauce. Maybe less wine or cook longer to get the wine taste out. Room service, we arrived Sunday afternoon extremely exhausted from overnight flight and 12 hr traveling. They come at 8 am. I asked them to come back tipped the lady $5 never came back. Second day same thing I asked her to please come after 9 am I even called front desk asked them to come after 9 am gave the lady $20 never saw her again. I tried being generous tipping for room service, bar, housekeeping but the more I tipped the shittier my service became so I stopped tipping all together. We spent 5 nights had 1 day house keeping and called twice still nothing. We had our room changed second night at 12:45 am . We had 2 roaches and a rat running up on ceiling in the bedroom. They moved us next building over. Fine not a big deal it’s the Caribbean it’s humid whatever. One thing I’ve noticed as an American tourist they all see you as a bank. They don’t look at you as a customer more of a bank which sucks because I wanted to relax with my kids and enjoy my time. I went to a gift shop I spent $74 they watched me the entire time. Even had a lady follow me as if I’m going to steal something and I ended up spending $74 dollars. They don’t allow Uber in the resort. You have to talk to the Bellman about taxi. There was about five guys standing there. I had some reservation to go to dinner with my kids at the blue mall. One guy quoted me 31 , another guy quoted me 25 one guy quoted me 60 they were all just trying to see who can get more out of me instead of giving me one price. Uber was charging eight dollars and they wouldn’t allow me to take Uber so I ended up canceling my reservation and just stayed at the resort, most places if you’re trying to leave, the resort are overcharging for one-way ride . The taxi was also trying to negotiate prices, and I did not like that. I don’t $2000 for this resort for 5 nights and it’s not worth it when you don’t feel welcome. Mini golf lady told me it was free 9-6 then she said it’s $5 before 6 pm per person than it’s $60 after $60 pm. I just felt like everyone here just kept charging and trying to see who can get more money out of a tourist. I would probably be back it’s beautiful resort but I won’t travel with my kids and probably would stay at a resort closer to the city and restaurants

My stay at this hotel was overall fantastic, with plenty of highlights and a few minor drawbacks. Highlights: • Room Features: The outdoor Jacuzzi with a privacy screen and beach view was a delightful surprise, creating a luxurious and peaceful atmosphere. The rooms were cozy and well-stocked with a mini bar, including water, Presidente beer, sodas, and carbonated water, replenished daily. The included robes and flip-flops added a touch of comfort and luxury. (robes available for $45 at gift shop!) • Food & Drinks: The buffet stood out with its variety and consistently fresh, warm food. Breakfast options like omelets and paninis made on the spot were excellent. However, the specialty restaurants were hit or miss—Kyoto (Asian cuisine) was great, the Italian was decent, but the Mexican and steakhouse restaurants were EXTREMELY disappointing. Drinks were a mixed experience; while there was a nice selection, top-shelf liquor like Hennessy or Black Label required extra payment. The sports bar was enjoyable, with a lively atmosphere and American-style food. The French restaurant is NOT (La Comedie) included. • Amenities & Activities: The resort offered plenty of activities, from volleyball and soccer to Zumba and water sports (some with a surcharge). The pools were wonderful, though the poolside bar closed at 6 PM, which felt too early. The spa had a range of treatments, though prices were on the higher side. The gym was spacious and well-equipped. The club got lively during weekends, making it a great spot for nightlife. • Gift Shop: Surprisingly, the gift shop had the BEST prices for souvenirs, much cheaper than tourist attractions or the airport, with beautiful handmade and natural products. Minor Drawbacks: 1. Bathroom Privacy: The bathroom design was a bit awkward, with shadows visible and sound carrying through, which could be uncomfortable for some. 2. Crowded Buffet: The buffet, while delicious, was often packed, making it challenging to find a seat during busy times. 3. Staff at Coffee Shop: The cigar, coffee and rum lounge was beautiful, but there is a particular staff member working there that lacked warmth and often claimed items weren’t available, which detracted from the experience. 4. Pool Bar Hours: The pool and swim-up bar closing early at 7 PM was a bit disappointing for those wanting to enjoy the resort into the evening. 5. Excursion Trade-offs: While the excursions I booked were phenomenal, I wished I had left two days free to fully enjoy the resort’s amenities. 6. Rowdiness on Weekends: Be prepared for things to get lively and a bit loud during the weekends. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, this might not be the best time to stay. 7. Limited Staff Knowledge: Most staff members are good at their specific jobs but may not have information about other areas of the resort. For example, asking for the hours of a certain location might not yield a correct answer. 8. Hit-or-Miss Bartenders: Bartending quality varied greatly—some were fantastic, while others were less consistent. Tips for Future Visitors: • Bring essentials like lotion (not provided)! • If you don’t book specialty restaurants, don’t worry—the buffet is excellent and often better than the à la carte options. • Plan for downtime at the resort to make the most of its amenities and activities (except the shows.. I thought they were kinda lame). Overall, this resort offers a luxurious and entertaining experience with plenty to do and great service from the staff (MOST). While there were a few issues, I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it!

I came to Barceló Bavaro Palace for my honeymoon with my wife because I’ve been to Barceló Maya Palace in Cancun and loved my experience. Let’s just say that there is a clear difference in service. Here’s a list for you: - Mirror has not been cleaned for 4 days straight until my wife could no longer bare to look at it - Room service that took an hour to deliver food - Filet mignon that was ordered medium rare but was delivered like a texture of rubber, Caesar salad that tasted like mayonnaise with uncut anchovies and chicken that was the driest I’ve ever eaten (I’m apparently expected to pay for this) - Was sent to 3 different staff to figure out how to get an Uber driver with none of them being able to answer my question - Consistently having to physically get staff to serve us at the buffet or “a la carte” which has worse food than the buffet - Staff asking ME what my order was then never bringing it - Calling room service just to have a dead line with no answer - Calling a service line to get some peanuts in the room that were delivered for the first 3 days then stopped, it took several hours to get the peanuts - Calling premium service line to ask them to help me get the peanuts and speak to the right people just for them to transfer me to a line with no answer, only calling me back to help me because I asked to speak to the hotel manager - Room cleaning staff not closing the fridge on several occasions, creating a possible malfunction - Showers that consistently leak through the door on the floor and have to waste a towel every time to cover it - A spa that has showers not working, steam rooms not working, and sauna not working that were ‘perks’ of premium service - The SPA had ceilings leaking and vents falling rotting around their edges - A pedicure that I thought would be the same as the amazing one that I got at Maya Palace, turned out to be mediocre - Having to beg bartenders to make me a drink because they ignore you all the time until my wife goes in a bikini to get them (inappropriate, unprofessional and disgusting behaviour) - Getting asked at the end of my a la carte dinner if I ordered dessert which we already said 2 times which made my wife and I leave - Not getting my order at all and getting an incorrect one and being forced to keep it saying it was “fine” - A safe that doesn’t work - Wet mats on couches that weren’t changed after a storm This list was already enough to make me hate my experience with Barceló Bavaro Palace. I believed it was just the staff that was incompetent, but it got so much worse. I received a letter from management in a language that I do not speak. I was called a “Seniora” when I remember checking in as a “Senior”. This letter invited me for “Drinks with Management” from what I understood by Olga Blanco. I showed up on time just to find out that Olga Blanco was not even in the building and that she would be there the following day. This was the most unprofessional and disrespectful incident I’ve encountered so far. This has been a horrible honey moon and there’s no one else to blame for it than the lack of service and care of Barcelo Bavaro Palace. Do not waste your money coming here. If you don’t speak Spanish, they’ll treat you with impatience, annoyance, ignorance and disregard.
