This property is quite close to the airport with about 17km or 30 minute ride by car. We enjoyed a prolonged stay at this property. The service staff was always helpful, friendly and at hand for any questions regarding our stay. This property is quite large, offers various buffet and, a large carte dining options, too. For this, reservations are required through guest services. The area is nice, well kept, direct beach access. The beach area is well supervised and kept clean as good as possible. The rooms are ok, in the area of rooms #40xx the balcony is really tiny. The bedroom spacious with all the amenities in working order. The bathroom is ok, space in the shower rather small (shower/tub). Room key is via a bracelet which identifies the level of service booked as well (color coding). We had a restful and overall pleasant and great stay, still, we might not return to this property mainly because of the following reasons: with the large number of guests we felt like a number, any request or question has to go through guest services, they try to accommodate as they can but we are used better and more attentative service quality. Case and point, that we were served incorrect meals at 2 different occasions at two of the restaurants and could not get it rectified - I can’t understand why this would be such an issue. However, if you stay here, you absolutely must book the dinner on the beach, it’s $60.-/person but an experience you won’t forget and really, really superbly done by the waitstaff involved - 1st Class!! Lastly, we were a bit taken back just how pricey some resort offers were (Spa). For the next time we visit the Dom Rep we likely look further to the west and for a smaller resort.

This is our 3rd Barcelo property we've stayed at. We've stayed at 2 Barcelo properties in Mexico and now this property. This property needs some help. I feel like more attention is given to the Barcelo Palace than this property. The adults only side and the Palace buildings themselves are in good condition. The outside of the buildings are nicely painted, the grass is cut & the beach has nice sand. The furniture is also nice and fits the Caribbean setting. The lounge chairs on the beach were ok. I didn't see too many that were in poor condition. The room we stayed in just felt a bit outdated. However, the bed was very comfortable & the sheets were clean. The bathroom felt dangerous. We don't drink enough to hurt ourselves, but the way the glass is mounted in the tub/shower, it's not very sturdy. God forbid an intoxicated person lean/fall while in the shower and the glass breaks. The bracket that "holds" the glass in place is not the most sturdy. Originally when we arrived at the resort we were greeted by staff. Since we purchased the Premium Level we were taken into the Premium Level guest services area where we met with Harlen. He explained the services we could receive because we are staying in the premium level. I don't know if I misunderstood him or just thought we'd be scammed, but needless to say I missed the part where he told us room service was included. Regardless, we took advantage of that after the 2nd day. We ordered breakfast and dinner a couple times. The food was very good. The hotel buffet wasn't terrible, but I felt like the options were slim. Some of the food looked appealing, but upon taking bites it was clear it was mediocre. After the 2nd day we started taking advantage of room service or walking down to the Barcelo Palace (which if you stay at the adults only section, you have access to the Palace at no extra cost). The desserts looked appealing as well, but again there wasn't a ton of sugar in them. My favorite dessert was some sort of coconut flavored item. It was sweet & tasted really good. The pool was very nice. We only sat by it a couple times, but from what we saw people were enjoying themselves. The room we stayed in was nice. Spacious. However, the room smelled moldy. There was mold on the curtains (which I brought up to staff and they were unable to off us a different room - high season). This is a health hazard. The staff only apologized... For the amount of money we spent on this vacation I found it complwtely unacceptable. Also, the shower head had mold in the holes where the water came out as well. I didn'tknow what could be done since Gamily Mendez told us they didn't have any rooms available. The shower/tub did not drain, UNLESS you removed the decorative drain cover... odd. The cleaning staff just removed the decorative cover and that was "the fix". The light at the pool was also inoperable, so we couldn't really swim at night because it was too dark. I just feel like with these issues some sort of compensation should have been offered. A suggestion would be to offer some sort of a discount on the spa or something (free mini bottle of rum or chocolate liquor). These issues will 100% have a baring on us return to another Barcelo property in the near future. I will give a couple shout outs to: Mayra Encarnacion. She was one of the waitresses at the buffet & was very accommodating. Out of all the staff we encountered at the adults only side & Palace, she worked with a sense of urgency. Most of the time we were left waiting for drinks / refills. Daneuuris Mejia who stocked our mini-fridge. He was always very attentive. As I said there was quite a bit wrong with our stay & 95% went unfixed. With that being said. I would really have to consider coming back because of the issues.I would air on the side of caution if I came back. If there is a next time I'd be a bit more direct on having the staff immediately fix our complaints. Hopefully fixes & updates can be made so other people can enjoy their vacation. I'm giving the room a score of 2 because the mold really got to me

We were a group of 3 and stayed here for 4 nights. We all got food poisoning here. Let’s start with the check in process which was the most disorganized check in process I’ve ever had. It took us over 45 mins to check in. There were 3 separate lines at the front desk, and the workers were not following the lines, they would just skip people. The workers could have said something about which lines they were taking people but no, they just let us continue waiting without staying anything. Then the WiFi didn’t work so our brackets couldn’t get activated to open our room door. So they told us to come back later. So we had to wait again on the lines later. Room. The only positive thing about the room was that there were 3 full sized beds. Otherwise the room itself, especially, the bathroom is outdated and worn. Things were stained like the chairs and the luggage rack was broken. Mold on the showerhead. Not sure how this is a 5 star hotel. Also there were no snacks, no lotion and no washcloths in the room. Food. We ate food at the buffet and at the restaurants. Food was not hot, even at the restaurants and you could tell the food was sitting out for a long time at the buffets. Maybe that’s where we got food poisoning. Overall food was disappointing, even at the restaurants. We ate at Coral and saw the staff reuse the table clothes. Like they just flipped the table clothes after a table was finished eating. I understand being environmentally conscious but that just gross and unsanitary. At Miramar buffet, the lady at the pasta station didn’t want to make my pasta order which is confusing since the station is literally a pasta station. Service. Hit or miss and not consistent. At Caribe buffet, great service by Miguel and Myra. Lukewarm service at La Brisa buffet, couldn’t even get a hello when we entered. They would ask what drink we wanted and never come back with the drink. Overall the experience was just disappointing. There was no swim up bar or bar on the beach. If you’re at the beach, you have to walk all the way back to the pool area for a drink. At least by the pool, there were workers coming around if you wanted a drink. No workers on the beach.

Extremely disappointed with this hotel. Arrived this afternoon and have had to change my room due to it being below normal standards. Lack of cleaning, lack of towels, and lack of toiletries. Air conditioning barely works, and the room is old and-needs repair.. I called Room Service to ask of what I may order since I was so hungry and the person that answered was unhelpful with providing me the details of what they would have so that I can just order anything. If they had pizza and the response was no. I also asked what else could I have ordered and all she said was beef and rice . I decided to go over to one of the buffet areas to eat where the flies were over the food, and the quality of drinks are very poor . I headed to my room to shower and requested towels along with facial wash towels, and no one came for over an hour. I will post pictures of so far a few disgusting pictures like the menu in the room, which is dirty and the room pictures . Since I just got here, I’m sure that I will find other things to post on ,as my trip continues. I went to guest service to give my complaint and all I was told was that it’s understood and that they would address the issue by me sending them the pictures that I had . My advice to those considering to come to this hotel is to reconsider and book elsewhere. I typically do stay at the Hard Rock in Punta Cana but I ended up coming here because my brother‘s birthday is today and this is where he came to stay. Extreme disappointment ! I honestly I couldn’t believe of the asking price for a night this weekend for what they provide . Prior to arrival I thought of extending from this Saturday to Sunday,l and Price on Barcelo site is $900 USD !I thought it could not have been as bad as I am viewing for the amount of money that they are expecting to stay 1 night at this particular hotel . UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!

Just our first day here and we are already extremely impressed with the quality of the resort, room and the very friendly, gracious hospitable staff! Looking forward to our first dinner at the seafood restaurant! I'm so happy to find on our first full day here at the beach although has a lot of seaweed washed up, was really beautiful to swim and is loaded up with all sorts of fish! I saw many varieties including pompano, barracuda and stingray and sea turtles! Breakfast and lunch at the buffet offered so many choices that were all delicious and all of the staff are incredibly friendly and warm. Looking forward to taking the train over to Barceló Bavaro Palace for dinner this evening! Never a shortage of things to do, things to see and things to eat here at the resort! Overall this was one of the very best all-inclusive experiences that we have ever had and my parents especially have been to numerous resorts across the Caribbean so when they say this was a to notch experience, it's an endorsement you can trust. The service was consistently friendly and on point the entire week. The food was tasty at both Resorts with lots of variety. The amenities are numerous, well-maintained and immaculately clean consistently throughout the week as well. If we are coming back to the Dominican Republic anytime soon, we would highly consider coming back to the exact same resort because we had such a great time! An easy 5 stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

While the beach itself is beautiful, the experience at Bavaro Beach Adults Only left much to be desired. First, the amount of seaweed on the beach detracted from its beauty but was still enjoyable. The restaurants are visually stunning, but the food quality was mediocre at best—I'd rate it a 5/10. The room was outdated, and the air conditioning smelled of mildew, so we had to rely on the fan and keep the door open. Staying on the first floor wouldn’t have been an option for us, as another guest encountered a tarantula outside their door. On the positive side, the shows at the Palace were impressive, reminiscent of Vegas-level performances, and the property is well-maintained and clean. The spa and gym are gorgeous, and the coffee is fantastic. However, these positives couldn’t outweigh the negatives. I also had a concerning experience with pricing. I bought an item from the hotel store priced at 9 USD, only to find I was charged 45 USD upon checking my credit card later. Medical services were equally overpriced. When I got sick with a chest infection (which seemed common among guests), I visited the doctor at the Palace. For a consultation, cough syrup, and fizzy tablets, I was charged 380 CAD. The staff, while kind and hardworking, seemed overworked. Adults Only is quiet, but the Palace offers better rooms at a better price. For a 4.5-star hotel with a hefty price tag, we were overall disappointed and wouldn’t return.
