Was cool to see the process of making papyrus...but it was only a quick presentation so they could get to the more important task of...trying to sell you a scroll. I mean, I thought we were taking an educational tour, since I was there on a guided tour, but they literally meet you at the door with an order form. They don't ask, they just assume you're there to buy something, so that was a bit disconcerting. I ended up giving in and bought a scroll, but I wasn't planning on it. To say there was some pressure wouldn't be a lie, to put it another way. The scroll I got was cool and all but they didn't let the ink dry before rolling it up (they DO give you options to add hieroglyphic lettering and cartouches to personalize a gift, for example) so it's marred already, and the packing tube was collapsed on one end.

Very interesting papyrus shop with huge collection of Egyptian theme scrolls from big to small. While drinking the so called Turkish coffee, the lady gave us a quick demo of how papyrus paper were made from the plant. I bought 4 small scrolls for a total of $147. It's a bit pricey but I really like them and probably won't find them anywhere outside of Egypt. I know it's part of the tour's obligated 'sale' stop, I still appreciated the opportunity to experience it. Overall, worthwhile the money and time spent there.
