If tomorrow our planet is hit by massive destructive meteor this hotel/hostel or whatever they are advertising themselves will be still the worst thing that happened on earth's history.||||First of all, we specifically booked and paid extra for Pyramids view, and just when we arrived at the hotel they told us that we GOT UPGRADE FOR FREE in a bigger room (at first). And when we told them we are happy with what we booked they told us "yeah but that's not available for today, maybe tomorrow INSHALLAH, but maybe INSHALLAH). At that very moment because they saw us we were not happy what they did and we complained about not informing us on time they didn't let go until we cancelled the reservations so we won't get charged (it was close to cut-off time). The self-declared BOSS did not leave the room until we cancelled it (such a nice behavior to do when someone traveled from another side of the world and is exhausted and jetlagged) . He literally stayed in the room until we canceled. ||||As I said, we paid for Pyramids view and we got flicking another building on 2 meters away from our window. For return we got "sorry, im so sorry, but sorry, im so sorry". On our question why they did not tell us before, even though they sent 10 emails each day TO CONFIRM OUR STAY AND PLEASE TAKE TOUR FROM OUR HOTEL, they were answering like broken cassette "I'm so sorry Sir, I'm so sorry Sir" and no answer was given.||||It was evening, late and in foreign country, we couldn't simply leave so we decided to stay that night and decide what next morning. ||||It was advertised as the rooms are equipped with air-conditioning. THEY WERE NOT! ||||There wasn't hot water and on our question if we can get a heater or something for the night, they answered that they don't have such a things, they will bring "Maybe tomorrow INSHALLAH" and they gave us WET DUVET. ||||The windows were faulty, wind was blowing from them. It helped us to experience Egyptian warmth in welcoming us.||||It was advertised that we get free breakfast...what to say here? Cold, small portion, bland and on greasy tray. With one word disgusting. ||||They also were working some maintenance of the building until late and from very early morning. Rooms are around the reception. Noise, laughter, giggling after midnight...and on our complain if they can be more quiet their answer was: "this is customer service sir", If that was customer service What the hell are we here? -Maybe they were high, maybe they were drunk, they didn't stop being loud. ||||We managed to stay there for few nights. We gave it a try but it was overwhelming every day more and more. We decided to change the hotel and move towards the city center, that's what we did.||||On the check-out they did not give us invoice, even that we specifically asked for that. We waited and waited for THE BOSS TO COME. We waste 1 hr waiting for him with our bags at reception but he did not show up. ||||They knocked on the door late in the evening to ask to give them the kettle. They were okay when we declined and told them that we need it. But next day when we were out they went in anyway and took it, before us coming back - they returned it. I know that because it was unplugged from the socket and empty. I never leave it completely empty. So yeah, talk to me about privacy.||||And last thing, we did not tell them that we are going to another hotel. Their advertisement on Booking was "If you stay more than 3 nights you get free shuttle to the airport". We stayed more that 3 nights. When we were checking out we asked for the free-shuttle and they said "Free shuttle means from the airport to the hotel and not from the hotel to the airport". They were lecturing us what AIRPORT SHUTTLE is and asked us for 20 USD if we want transport to the airport. What a humans. ||||They over-charged, because of taxes, around 30% of the initial price. But no receipt or invoice for that. Because we cancel the reservations through booking we couldn't prove the price we booked. Also because of that cancelation we could not write to booking that this hotel is a scam. They tricked us on a very smart way, but that's not how you develop hospitality business.||||I'm not over it yet. We were naïve because we canceled our reservation on Booking and we literally lost all our rights.||||I am not asking for anything in return from them but I believe in karma and I am sure one that it will hit them back like a boomerang, INSHALLAH.||||I can keep writing for ages for our experience there and next time I rather stay under Nile's bridges than...
Read moreGardenia Hotel was the perfect place to stay for visiting Cairo and Giza! Book a room with a view- it is so worth it. The whole team operating the business is so friendly, always willing to help with anything. We had a sprained ankle situation and upon asking for ice they promptly rushed to provide an ice pack. Breakfast was amazing - we stayed three nights and each breakfast was different. The price for a tour of the Giza pyramids for two people was very good. The experience came with a driver, guide who spoke wonderful English (request Hanen, she was so cool!), and amazing Egyptian lunch. We went to the three Giza pyramids, Memphis to see a huge statue of Ramses II, and to Saqqara necropolis (our favorite). We also stopped by a carpet school, and papyrus shop. It was a full day.
The manager and owner, Mohamed has helped us plan a 5 day-4 night Nile Cruise out of Luxor. We planned our flight to Luxor and accommodation (we preferred it), but he has the drivers and transportation all worked out for us. We received a very reasonable rate from him for the trip to also include a shared tour to Abu Simbel. Hopefully it all works out, I’ll post an update when it’s over.
The neighborhood of Gardenia Hotel excellent. You DO NOT want to stay right next to the pyramids. It is a restricted area with horses, horse poop, and people who will try to get every last penny from you. Gardenia’s neighborhood was very safe. No one bothered us. There are a few restaurants around for dinner, and a great supermarket a minute walk around the corner for water and snacks.
The only minor issue is the one elevator, but the locals let guests of the hotel is it first. Everyone was so kind. We would stay here again, definitely. The team working the hotel were amazing. And the transport to and from the airport is FREE. You...

It's not what it looks like in the pictures and the hotel smells horrible. I booked a expensive deluxe room for 10 days via booking.com and there was nothing deluxe about that room. They even had no room service and they can not speak english. We had no wifi in the hotel. I wanted to cancel the booking but the owner Mohammad Morsi did not want to refund us properly i stayed there for one night and had to pay for five days. Then he took my Phone and forced me to cancel the reservation on the booking.com website. He wanted me to pay for dropping me off in the airport and for the free Pick up Service.
First of all the whole staff is trying to get your money they are trying to force you to make tours with them for very high prices and want tip all the time. Then they say the tip is too little. It's not clear who is working there everyone had civil clothing. If you want to go sightseeing by yourself they wont allow it and they leave you no choice exept traveling with them. There are no taxis and no public transportation avilable and the buildings are in a poor state it's like a warzone. There are homeless people everywhere around the hotel.
The rooms are cold in the night and the heater is not working and there was no water and no toilet paper i could not take a shower and i had to wipe with a towel after going to toilet because they did not gave me any toilet paper in the reception. By the way there was no real reception.
The room doors have little gaps so you will have to hear the other guests and the windows cannot be closed properly so you will hear the dogs and everyone else in the streets. I could not sleep because of that.
I would not recommend it stay away from the hotel...
