We went twice to this restaurant. First time we chose to have buffet dinner for 150 EGP p.P. it was alright. What I didn't like was that they have double standards when it comes to the drink prices as drinks are obviously not included in buffet dinners. If you choose Buffet, you will be given a separate menu for drinks which has all the drinks for 50 EGP/3€ which is one of the costliest menu for drinks in the area and for standards. Even small water bottle for 3€ which. Well, even in Germany in restaurant of that standard, you won't pay that much for a cola or small water bottle. Nevertheless, if you choose not to have buffet, the menu is in Arabic and they try to sell you whatever they have. Specially the owner. To your surprise, the drink prices on ala carte menu, are cheaper. Voila.
Food is good, meat was tender, no complaints about that. The service staff are in hurry to clean your table rigorously for whatever reason, they will take everything off your table even if you're eating, indicating that you should either leave or they have to leave. If someone didn't eat any meat from the grill plate, they will remove the meat with their bare fingers/hands and collect those pieces separately in another pot, obviously to be reused for some other guests. I had those pieces delivered to me when I asked for some more kebabs, as the meat they deliver is not enough for two people. I spoke to the owner about the staff why they couldn't leave our plates on the table and why they are in hurry and why they are not asking us before removing the items off our table. He compensated us with a cola can which was removed by one of his staff in hurry. I met some other travelers and four of us went there again, as the owner assured us that the service will be better tomorrow. Next day, there was no buffet and we were not planning on a buffet anyway, he was forcing us to have his food which he selected for us and pay him 150 EGP each for some meat and rice and soup. We obviously resisted and he was still firm. The girls were feeling uneasy with his forced menu and the amount of money he was asking for. We told the owner to give us time and let us choose the food we'd like to eat. He unwillingly went away and sent his staff with rice, salad and soups on our table though we didn't order. The girls started feeling upset as he was forcing food on us whatever he had already prepared. Then he said, this food is for free and he will give us more meat but still asked for 150 EGP each. He started blackmailing us with some stuff and we had to leave. He apparently abused us in Arabic, this ruined the whole evening and we ended up eating food somewhere for 180 EGP with meats, kebabs, hummus, bread and...
Read moreSCAM! Stay away! We were put in this tourist trap as part of a day trip to cairo. We came spent from a few hours at the giza plateau in the middle of the summer. Although the "restaurant" was almost completely empty we were harassed by the personnel to quickly eat. The tiny meat platter was hastily put on the table beneath clingfilmed watermelon slices while we were still on our way to the restroom. The small aisles were crowded by the personnel getting happily in the way whenever someone tried to pass them. A boy at the sink handed individual paper towels to guests, seeking for a tip. Like a wake of vultures the waiters stared at us while we were eating, pressing us to order another drink, even as we hadn't finished our overprized sodas. The pasta was cold, the chicken was heavily overcooked, the kofta à point, if you trust the venture's food safety standards. My trust waned by the hour. When it came time to pay the bill, they wanted to keep the change. We had to ask multiple times to finally get...
Read moreWe were brought here by the tour operator for lunch during a trip to the pyramids. Seems to be a regular haunt for similar groups as the place was full of tourists being offloaded from coaches at the time of our visit. The restaurant seems to operate a standard routine where a tray of grilled meat is placed on every table alongside a small buffet of salads, cold pasta etc. Though lunch was 'included' in the tour cost, drinks were charged additionally at $3 each. This presumably pays for the rest of your meal but the fresh orange juice was decent to be fair. Can't comment on the meat as we are vegetarian but judging by the facial expressions of other diners, it was probably not great. There was nothing for vegetarians except salad- all considered a very forgettable experience although I suspect you won't have much choice in the matter if you are taken here as...
