This is one of my favorite beaches to visit in El Salvador. Some reasons I like it so much are because it's close to so many restaurants, shops, and bars. The beach itself is beautiful, and the color of the sand makes for really good pictures. There are plenty of people who enjoy surfing here, and it is a tourist hotspot.
Year over year, I met tourists from various nationalities such as: Australia, USA, Canada, New Zealand, and plenty of spanish speaking countries.
In addition to that, the hotels here are reasonably priced and some include breakfast options.

Read moreTourist trap for the most part. Yes it's a great surfing beach and a pretty vista. But the beach is all rocks, surrounded by overpriced restaurants, and no real privacy. Obviously being a surfing beach, waves a bit rough for families with younger ones.
Edit: just spent an adult weekend(no kids this time) in El Tunco. Much more enjoyable without having to be attentive of our young ones. Got to enjoy the vibes a different way and have to admit I liked the town a lot...
