The remains of probably the biggest fortress in Northern Baltics. By now is has been perfectly cleaned and presented, so all that remains is visible and accessible. To experience the location in the best way go there where no events are in progress, so you can have better ways of exploring the fortress. While at it do not forget to check out the hanging footbridge in the back corner of the fortress as well as to look over the lake Viljandi from the convent area. Also check out the poems hidden in the area, accessible...

A castle ruin which now a popular open air theater. The castle was destroyed in the 17th century which was long ago but still the ruin is very attractive.

You can see the lake from the ruin and make it a very scenic place to visit.

It would be a very fairy tale type castle if it was not destroyed. The surrounding area is just like the scene you always find in...
