Kondase Keskus — Attraction in Viljandi linn

Wonderful art with friendly presenters.

The layout is a bit quirky (not a con of course). The long spiral stairs lead to one more room with art, and the permanent exhibit is accessed through the workshop / café.

I recommend you watch the video about Kondas. It's only 10 minutes, and there is an English translation available. Even in that short time, he struck me as quite the character. I especially liked how he never presented his art in his home town after one bad review. I aspire to that level of unapologetic pettiness.

Kondase Keskus’ self portrait and his famous ‘Strawberry Eaters’ paintings are housed here. This art museum is incredible as well as having the most amazing display of varied art collections they are currently exhibiting ‘Hidden World Expanding’ which is outsider art in Eastern European countries. I was so impressed that art classes for children are held every day and even in the school holidays, catering for all ages. Amazing surprise at a corner of a street: naive art museum with a permanent exhibition of Paul Kondas, which was naive and very expressive painter.
