This was my first hiking experience in a long while. The scenery kept changing throughout our 7 day trip and that was the highlight for me. I didn't look at the map a whole lot so every time we took a trail, there was always something new to discover.

This was a great place to find quietness and peace, and the people we came across shared that same energy.

I would suggest visiting it one month earlier, the weather is likely to be more stable and warm. Though I've heard that there are a lot more people at that time.

The wilderness huts were well equipped and they serve a traveller that likes comfort. The mice do enjoy them as well, so always hang your food sources when entering those.

I would suggest taking Luirojärvi as a goal for the trip. It's the heart of the park for wanderers. A lot of people recommended visiting Sokosti on a clear weather, it's nearby. There is also possibility for sauna and ice cold swimming.

I'll be recommending the park to everyone I know who likes to hike a little longer and enjoy silence. I'll be coming back here...

Had a week long hike in the park from Aittajärvi via Luirojärvi to Kiilopää. Apart from the tunturi tops almost all of the park is covered by diverse forests. Water is clear and readily drinkable whenever it's running. Park has plenty of campfire sites and huts with facilities for cooking and drying up equipment. Mobile network coverage in the park is poor(excluding tunturi tops), so make sure to download your map offline or get it on paper. Overall a must-see Finnish nature experience for all outdoors...

I have a two-week hike in Urho Kekkonen National Park behind me. The hiking routes are excellent and there are many rest and camp sites in the area. I slept in my hammock but I saw many who carried a tent with them. If you are interested in studying a clean nature, I recommend you to visit UKK National Park. Visitors who respect the rules for setting up a campfire, who carrying the garbage to the starting point and those who respect the rules for fishing will help to keep the park free of charge in the...

Park with some great trails and views. Many trails are well-maintained, some less so, but that's absolutely understandable due to the size of the park. Was a nice feeling to also drink spring water up in the fells. Just make sure it's safe to drink before doing so! 😊 All trails don't have spring water / water spots
