Cathédrale Saint-Pierre — Attraction in Annecy

The Cathedral stands in between buildings near to the Police Municipal.

There are two stairways that bring you to the front (entrance) of the church.

The Cathedral holds a charm of the old very well, does not look run down like some of the other churches around. Still, the Cathedral needs maintenance.

The high ceiling of the Cathedral is able to enable any hymns sung in the Cathedral sound majestic.

The doors of the Cathedral stood out since many of the other church doors seem to have been replaced with plywood or so it seems.

The main structure of the church is made of granite and marble. The interior of the church seems to have been designed splendidly using good wood.

Per fortuna, durante la rivoluzione francese, fu trasformata in tempio per la dea Ragione e questo deve averla preservata dalla rovina che affligge le altre chiese trasformate in stalle! Tutta incentrata su San Francesco di Sales, quello che viene scelto da Don Bosco come patrono del suo ordine e fondatore assieme a Santa Giovanna di Chantal dell'ordine della visitazione. Ho scoperto che in questa chiesa ha svolto momenti importanti della sua vita, infatti tante cose lo ricordano e lo troviamo nelle vetrate, nel pulpito ed in un altare con a fianco due lapidi a lui dedicate. Bellissimo l'organo ed il coro neoclassico con due stupendi legii a forma di aquila e di angelo che sorregge un libro. Bello il quadro in cui si toglie Gesù dalla croce che è di scuola caravaggesca.
