I recently had the pleasure of staying at the ibis Annecy Centre Vieille Ville, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The hotel's prime location, just a mere minute's walk from the enchanting old town, was simply unbeatable. This proximity allowed us to immerse ourselves in the rich history and culture of Annecy effortlessly.
What truly stood out was the amazing relaxed atmosphere that permeated the entire establishment. The hotel exuded a calm and welcoming vibe that immediately put us at ease. We also appreciated the abundance of restaurant options in the vicinity, ensuring we had a wide variety of culinary delights to choose from.
Another highlight was the convenient 6-minute walk to Annecy Lake. The proximity to this breathtaking natural wonder added an extra layer of magic to our stay. The option to take our breakfast and enjoy it by the serene lake was a fantastic touch, making our mornings truly memorable.
The rooms at ibis Annecy Centre Vieille Ville were impeccably clean, and the lobby area was inviting and well-maintained. The breakfast was a treat, offering a great start to our days. The option to take away breakfast and savor it by the lake was a unique and delightful experience.
However, it's worth noting that behind the hotel is the red cross center, and we did encounter some homeless individuals and individuals struggling with addiction issues in the vicinity. This made me cautious about letting my family walk around alone in the area, as I wanted to ensure their safety. It's possible I may have been overly cautious, but I believe it's always better to be safe than sorry.
Overall, our stay at ibis Annecy Centre Vieille Ville was fantastic. The hotel's incredible location, serene atmosphere, and the convenience of dining and exploring nearby attractions made it a memorable experience. It's definitely a place I would recommend to fellow travelers looking to explore the...
Read more3-star hotel located along a canal at the entrance to the historic center of Annecy, just 100–200 meters from the pedestrian streets with shops and restaurants. We booked a Comfort room, which was fairly small but equipped with the necessary amenities and a small balcony overlooking the canal. The room was well soundproofed, including the balcony door, and we didn’t experience any major disturbances at night. The minibar in the room didn’t cool very well—barely enough to keep drinks cold. However, if you need to store more important items like medication, the reception offers to keep them in their fridge. All the staff were friendly and helpful, though we suggest improving the room cleaning service. Breakfast was satisfying, with both sweet and savory options. We recommend choosing the later time slot (after 9 AM) to avoid overcrowding and to ensure all items are available (as staff replenish them when possible). The hotel also has a bar offering simple pre-cooked dinner options, convenient if you prefer or need to stay in. Pets are welcome and allowed even in the breakfast room, with a daily surcharge. Just a few meters from the hotel, there’s a paid covered parking garage that offers discounted mini-subscriptions for 2, 3, or 5 days—cheaper than paying hourly rates. Additionally, about 100 meters down the street, there’s an electric vehicle charging station, which we used and paid for directly by credit card. Overall, our stay was pleasant and in line with the expectations for this type of accommodation, which we recommend for a couple of days visiting the city. The only downside—though unrelated to the hotel itself but rather the municipal management—was the presence of some sketchy individuals in the nearby streets,...
Read moreUpdated: keeping below for record, however the hotel staff also acknowledged the points and made an effort to make up for the poor experience. So I have upped the review accordingly.
Disorganized and dirty.
Parking lot next to the hotel smelled everywhere of piss cause of the homeless all around. We found a fresh puddle of piss in the stairwell.
The bathroom the room (like many European bathrooms for some very weird reason) did not have ventilation and so smelt less strongly of piss than the parking lot.
The toilet seat also had bits of crap in it. Seems the previous occupant had diarrhoea. We cleaned that and complained. The staff had the decency to be embarrassed and sent someone up shortly to clean it again.
Went down to get some work done in the restaurant area and someone had thoroughly burnt some food so the whole lobby and restaurant area had visible smoke and smelt strongly of whatever was burnt. Cleared out after 30 min.
All that was day 1. Day 2 were in the hotel room getting changed (thankfully!) and the cleaning lady barges in even though it was clearly marked do not disturb. When I pointed that out she said yes but it’s noon. You’re supposed to have checked out by now!! So I informed her we don’t leave till tomorrow morning!! She was skeptical and I insisted she confirm with the front desk. She didn’t bother coming back to apologize and neither did the front desk.
I don’t even want to consider how our stuff would have been handled if we weren’t there!
Initially I thought it was a disappointing experience. Maybe they’re having a bad week but at this point, it doesn’t merit the 3 stars...
