Such a massive disappointment. We made reservations about a month in advance and I was so excited. They gave us a beautiful table outside by the water. But the food and service was so bad.
Our service was terrible. I don’t speak much French, but have never had an issue ordering off a menu before in France. The waitress brought out two completely different dishes than what we ordered (I even pointed on the menu as I ordered…and it was in English and French) and then got angry at us when we politely told her it wasn’t our food. We ended up just keeping one of the wrong dishes just to keep the peace (and it was more expensive than what we had ordered) and she still was angry. She also forgot to bring out a side order. We got charged for it. When I pointed that out on the bill she argued with me and got angry and stormed off. We were all completely taken back.
We waited an incredible amount of time for our dinner…almost 90 minutes… and the hot food was cold when it arrived so clearly it had been sitting. It was hardly edible. The entree ceasar salad with chicken that my teen ordered was so saturated in dressing that the lettuce was limp. I had the scallops and black risotto and the scallops were so overcooked I needed my steak knife. Three of the 6 scallops on my dish weren’t circular - they were elongated and cut up and looked like shrimp at first. I realized the chef must have cut into them to check them and just mutilated them. Or someone didn’t know how to shuck them.
I don’t mind spending money for a wonderful restaurant experience. It’s something we enjoy. After paying $250 for this meal, we got completely robbed. Highly recommend going somewhere else. My daughter was so shocked at how mean the server was that it made the whole dinner...

I came to this restaurant with my boyfriend to have a nice dinner, but soon enough we realised that our expectations were unreal. For example, an expectation was not to bite out of a pea sized stone when trying to eat my veggies side dish. I complained to the waiter of course and the waiter was not impressed that my tooth could have been broken if i was to bite harder. He apologized with nonchalance and suggested that it’s a sign that the veggies are fresh and this could happen… They didn’t even offer to exchange the veggies side dish or to remove it from the bill. They only offered a coffee or a digestif, which we categorically declined. Regarding the rest of the food, we order as appetizers the escargots, however they came without their original shell, but inside a deep fried pastry shaped like a shell. They were very oily and heavy. The same applied for the veggies side dish: overcooked and floating in oil.
Our experience cost us around 100€ including 2 glasses of wine. As such, if you do have expectations not to have stones in your food, we strongly recommend to avoid this place.
EDIT: I have no words regarding the cliche insult I’ve read from the “owner” of this restaurant. Your untruthful and discriminating reply is in line with your services, which reinforces our poor experience at your restaurant. Unfortunately, I cannot post the screenshots I took of the first reply posted by the “owner”. He has edited it many times, just to iterate the same thing: that Romanians are thieves in an attempt to minimize the problem they created. Chapeau! If you do not believe me, I invite you to read the answers from the “owner” to other dissatisfied customers. Full of insults at the...
Read moreSo I’m not one to usually do this, but I have to write about this here. I’m a foreigner - I came to eat with a foreign friend, I speak VERY little French but I try. I was charged incorrectly for my meal and when I went back I was greeted by only ONE (very important here) woman at the cash register who was incredibly rude to me because I wanted to get my money that SHE had charged me incorrectly for the night before. (Let it be known that all other staff was kind, efficient, and sweet). She had charged me for another tables meal, and when she charged me at the counter she didn’t recount the items charged so I didn’t realize until I looked at the receipt a day later. When I came in she spoke French super fast to me despite me saying I don’t speak super well and when I didn’t understand she said things like « tu me fais chié. Ce n'est pas beaucoup d'argent ». (You piss me off, it isn’t even a lot of money) she then asked me if I had proof of what I ate ??? And this is hilarious - she asked if I had proof because I didn’t “have the correct receipt”. HONEY. YOU GAVE ME THE WRONG RECEIPT. so I had luckily taken videos and pictures and that was proof enough but what??? In the end it wasn’t the amount I thought it was and honestly had I understood that prior (I tried to call 5 times before coming in person by the way) I wouldn’t have even come. But this kind of disrespect for a mistake made by the restaurant is insane to me. So, no, unfortunately I don’t recommend Le Chalet. Please, if you guys read this, reconsider the woman at the front as she is unkind and rude. Very disappointed after a really great...
