Ropiteau Frères — Attraction in Beaune

Really poor service. Wines of average quality. Much better to visit a real winemaker (we did so in Puligny Montrachet) as it is much more interesting to talk with a winemaker and sample all his wines with no purchase necessary or tasting cost (in the end in Puligny we purchased 2 cases). At ropiteau we bought nothing. They were not happy and almost insulted us. This is what happens when the person is an employee who is just here to sell wines. Not a good experience. Would not recommend. Do not waste your time there. Go elsewhere. There are plenty better places to visit...

We visited the Cave Ropiteau Frères on a sunny Friday in March. Hugo spoke eloquently and knowledgeably about the winery, the terroir, the cépage, and even the geology- he was incredibly welcoming and informative. His positive enthusiasm and passion for the subject made the visit easily the best we have enjoyed in Burgundy. He even was knowledgeable about the rugby and introduced us to his friend from Donegal. A rip-off. They refused to sell to me hors taxes even though I live in Switzerland. Promised to credit my card once the French Customs had stamped the invoice and I emailed it back.
