Patinoire de Mériadeck — Attraction in Bordeaux

ENGLISCH Mériadeck was an everyday part of my time in Bordeaux. I arrived here on the very first day and basically passed by this area almost every day in a direct way - i.e. for running errands - or an indirect way - i.e. on the way to the city center. No district (and I am not quite sure whether Mériadeck is actually seen by residents of Bordeaux as a district in its own right) can be read so precisely in the urban space: on the eastern side from the historic city center and the town hall and on the western side from the Cimetière de la Chartreuse and the church of St. Bruno. Very precise edges. And if one walks through the surrounding streets, you get a good impression of the formerly homogeneous Bordeaux-urban-mass that had to make space for this quarter. But doesn't this area also explain what makes the center and the beige districts around it so special? Without breaks, the unity remains un-irritated. Mériadeck is primarily an administrative and business district, but residents also live here. The planning of the 60s and 70s is characterized by the idea of a car-friendly city - gigantic staircases and ramps lead to a pedestrian level +1, which connects the various building plots and levels by means of bridges. You can enter this uplifted level at one corner of the Mériadeck and walk all the way to the other side, not always entirely intuitively. But undoubtedly, Luicius Burckhardt would describe the structural expression of the Mériadeck as an “architectural cactus ”. The sheer size of the planning project reflects so many time periods that a collage-like strangeness has emerged.

DEUTSCH Mériadeck war ein alltäglicher Bestandteil meiner Zeit in Bordeaux. Ich bin hier am allerersten Tag angekommen und habe diesen Bereich im Grund fast jeden Tag in direkter Weise – also Einkaufen oder Erledigungen – oder indirekter Weise – also auf dem Weg in die Stadtmitte – dort vorbeigekommen. Kein Stadtteil (und ich bin mir nicht ganz sicher, ob Mériadeck von den Bewohner*innen von Bordeaux tatsächlich als eigener Stadtteil gesehen wird) lässt sich so exakt im städtischen Raum ablesen: auf der östlichen Seite begrenzt vom historischen Stadtzentrum und dem Rathaus und auf der westlichen Seite vom Cimetière de la Chartreuse und der Kirche St. Bruno. Alles sehr präzise. Und wenn man durch die umliegenden Straßen spaziert, bekommt man einen guten Eindruck, wie viel an vormals homogener Bordeaux-Masse für dieses Viertel weichen musste. Aber erklärt uns nicht auch diese Gegend bestens was das Zentrum, aber auch viele der sandfarbigen Viertel darum so besonders machen? Ohne Brüche bleibt die Einheit un-irritiert. Mériadeck ist in erster Linie ein Verwaltungs- und Geschäftsviertel, aber es wird auch gewohnt. Als Planung der 60er und 70er Jahren ist die Idee der Autogerechten Stadt prägend; gigantische Treppenanlagen und Rampen führen auf eine Fußgänger-Ebene +1, welche die verschiedenen Baufelder / bebauten Schollen mittels Brücken miteinander verbindet. Man kann diese Ebene an einer Ecke des Mériadeck betreten und sich komplett bis zur anderen Seite fußläufig bewegen, nicht immer ganz intuitiv. Den baulichen Ausdruck würde Luicius Burckhardt ohne Zweifel als „Kakteen-Architekturen“ bezeichnen. Die schiere Größe des Planungsprojektes bildet so viele Zeiträume ab, dass eine Art Collagen-artige Eigenartigkeit entstanden ist.

Really poor customer service. Door to ice rink locked but no clear signage to know where to go. My cousin had lessons booked and I spoke to a member of staff about it but no one had any idea how it all worked. The coach was already on the ice and made no effort to go and find her student. Not sure how someone wanting to learn to skate is supposed to find a coach who is already on the ice. I went for some snacks and a drink in the bar. The staff member behind the counter eyeballed me, said nothing and then just disappeared. Eventually she reappeared. When I asked her what I wanted, she plonked them at the end of the counter, out of my sight. Afterwards, my cousin had told me that her lesson was good and the coach was friendly and helpful. All the customer service surrounding it though...

Je ne comprends pas comment le gérant de la patinoire peut décider de laisser autant de monde entrer sur la piste. En l'occurrence le propriétaire est la ville de Bordeaux... donc le profit ne devrait pas être la motivation première... donc je ne comprends pas.

Il y avait tellement de monde sur la piste qu'il était impossible de patiner, il fallait simplement essayer de ne pas se rentrer dedans et éviter les accidents. Voilà à quoi s'est résumé mon expérience.

Expérience encore plus mauvaise à cause de 2 raisons :

1. : la patinoire a jugé malin de mettre à disposition de tous les patineurs d'épées en ballon de baudruche... évidemment, quand il y a 1000 personnes sur la piste, la meilleure idée c'est de balancer des épées pour que les enfants et les ados se battent avec ces épées (reflex naturel...)... il faut vraiment ne pas réfléchir pour faire cela... je me suis pris je ne sais combien de jeunes et me suis fait mal tout cela parce que ces épées font en sorte que les gens ne tournent même pas dans le même sens car en train de se battre avec des épées.

-2) : la patinoire devrait avoir des surveillants, des personnes qui s'occupent de faire en sorte que tout le monde puisse profiter et éviter que certains monopolisent une partie de la patinoire. Certains, parce que ils savent bien patiner, pensent qu'ils ont le droit de tourner dans le sens inverse, et si cela n est pas suffisant, en tournant dans le sens inverse ils font également des figures... Donc toi qui ne maîtrise pas le patin, à tout moment tu vas te fracasser parce que certains se croient au dessus des règlements... Et ils n'ont pas tort, car personne ne fait respecter le règlement. Ha si... pendant toute la session de 2h30, il y a eu un message à travers les enceintes pour dire que l'on devait patiner dans le bon sens.

En résumé, patinoire ou souk, sans aucune surveillance, où la loi du plus fort règne... sympa l'expérience de la patinoire de Bordeaux....

Pffffff. Ps : les patins en 43 étaient vraiment horrible... c était des sabots... un minimum de rembourrage dans les...
