As part of the Hilton I was expecting a lot more for the price, our room Deluxe King with balcony was around $400 plus euros per night, the facility was no where near worth that.
Be very careful when booking rooms here, the pictures are deceptive, in particular anything with a balcony or terrace. These rooms tend to be in a separate building that you have to walk outdoors to get to (not great if its raining) also there is no lift in the second building, you have to carry your luggage up the stairs. The staff will do it, but I specially asked about a lift and was told there was one, they left out the part that there wasn't one in our building.
The rooms in this building that are showcased online with a large balcony face the walkway between buildings, and are next to a nice smoking area, so there is absolutely no privacy for the rooms and if smoke is a problem you can open your sliding doors (beware).
The staff was alway helpful, but arriving on a Sunday night was not good, as there was no-one to staff the bar or food.
We asked for a cork puller (as we are in Bordeaux, right) and there was not one to be found anywhere by the staff????
Housekeeping was sub-par at best, as were the qualify of the bath linens, just not up to a Hilton Hotel standards. I left an empty tissue box out to be replaced, but it was ignored, I had to go to the desk to request one. I fault the management on this, lack of quality control and staff training.
We happened to meet another couple staying at the hotel and their experience was similar, we both agreed we would never stay at this...
Read moreGreat Staff, Stylish Hotel — But Some Operational Issues
The lobby of Marty Hôtel Bordeaux is modern and stylish, and the real standout is the staff — truly amazing. I can’t say enough about how kind and helpful they were. They upgraded us to a king room with a lovely design and a private balcony, which we really appreciated.
However, the room’s location was quite inconvenient — only accessible via elevator, followed by navigating through four doors and several sets of stairs. It felt unnecessarily complicated, especially with two large suitcases. While the staff kindly carried our luggage up, I felt terrible watching them struggle with the layout. It’s surprising Hilton hasn’t addressed this issue — most guests wouldn’t expect such a maze in a premium hotel.
Another downside was the breakfast service. The selection itself was decent, but it seemed like only one person was working the entire area — checking room numbers, handling payments, making tea, clearing tables. The most unfortunate part was spotting a small cockroach on the breakfast table. Definitely not what you’d expect from a Hilton-branded hotel, and it left a negative impression despite the otherwise pleasant stay.
With some operational improvements and better staffing, this hotel has real potential — the team and design are...
Read moreConveniently located in Bordeaux, 5min away from the tramway line that takes you to and from the airport (the same line will bring you to the cathedral and near Place de la Bourse & its miroir d'eau, an absolute must see). 5-10 minutes away from place Gambetta & cours de l'Intendance (another must see). Lots of restaurants around in walking distance, even on a Sunday evening. Plenty of parking lots (paid) around if needed.
The hotel itself is modern yet warm, tasteful and cozy - that goes for the lobby / bar / salon area AND for the rooms (which are very clean, quiet and confortable). Bedding was really confortable and we both slept very well.
Bathroom was clean, modern and functional, with plenty of hot water and pressure.
Photos reliably depict what you can expect.
We weren't bothered by any noise, whether from outside or inside. Breakfast was nice with pastries, excellent French bread, jams but also bacon, eggs, cheese (delicious btw) and your choice of cereals and seeds,...
Staff was helpful and friendly, and although we talked in French, I heard them talk in good english to international guests.
I'd say that's a nice hotel to recommend to international travelers who want to be very close to Bordeaux center without the noise....
