I had an absolutely delightful experience during my recent visit to the charming town of Riquewihr. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the picturesque streets lined with colorful half-timbered houses, each one seemingly straight out of a fairy tale.
The town's rich history was evident at every turn, with well-preserved architecture that transported me back in time. Exploring the cobblestone streets felt like stepping into a bygone era, and I couldn't help but be enchanted by the medieval atmosphere.
The local shops and boutiques were a treasure trove of unique finds, from handcrafted souvenirs to exquisite wines. Speaking of which, the renowned Alsace wines were a highlight of my trip. I had the pleasure of sampling some of the finest selections at local wineries, and each sip was a symphony of flavors that showcased the region's viticultural prowess.
What truly stood out, though, was the warm and welcoming spirit of the locals. The genuine hospitality and friendliness I encountered made my visit even more memorable. Whether it was indulging in delectable Alsatian cuisine at a cozy restaurant or engaging in pleasant conversations with shopkeepers, the people of Riquewihr left a lasting impression on me.
The town's location amid rolling vineyards and lush landscapes added to its allure. I found myself taking leisurely strolls, admiring the breathtaking vistas that surrounded Riquewihr. The beauty of the natural surroundings was a perfect complement to the town's...

The old town center is very compact and easy to walk. Mostly traffic free, except for some locals and/or deliveries. The Rue du Général de Gaulle is the main strip here in this village and most restaurants, shops and sights are located here or close to. The Rue de la Couronne is a smaller side street but with some interesting shops and restaurants. Make sure to check some other side streets as well, but if the first time around focus of course on the Général de Gaulle.
Mairie de Riquewihr, Le Passage, Fontaine de la Sinne and the Tour Haute (Tour Dolder) are some must-sees.
Besides that there or a good number of shops, of course some usual souvenir shops as well.
Fortwenger is a good place to shop some baked goodies, cookies etc. And Marché de Riquewihr is a good place to get some Foie Gras, saucisson and cheese.
Most restaurants offer the local cuisine from Alsace and its wine. Rich, hearty meals. Very nice. We had lunch in the "Au Vieux Riquewihr" and were very happy.
A really pretty village with countless colourful buildings. Every corner a photo op. Good shopping, good food as well. Surely a must-see when...
