DO NOT STAY HERE. I can not emphasise enough how aweful my interaction was with this accommodation service.I was left shaking. Anne-Sophie who has Blonde hair and a short height shouted, screamed and left me shaking and crying after meeting her. Upon arrival, I was so excited about moving in and not alone moving into accommodation in Benjamin Delessert but also moving to France as it was my first time away from home in a new country and I couldn’t have had a worse experience with this accommodation service. Being bullied into signing documents, agreeing to pay the full price before seeing my room. Having read reviews about • bedbugs, cockroaches, theft, dirt and a foul smell, I wanted to see my room before paying for it to which I was told was impossible while also being shouted & screamed at. I was left shaking. Getting international students to sign documents agreeing to pay the full amount upon arrival before seeing the room, then once signed and paid for, there’s no going back and then being given a room- some have quote “ foul smells, gaps in windows, bedbugs, cockroaches, filt and dirt” are complaints by residents. The manner in which this women spoke to me in was absolutely shocking as I was sitting down I was being yelled at in my face because I was asking to see my room before paying the full price. I have never been spoken to by someone like that before, it was no bit professional and I don’t want this to happen to anybody else ever again. If I could give negative rating I honestly would. Nobody deserves to be treated like this when asking to see what they are paying for. There was no photos of the kitchen online and when I said I don’t know what my kitchen looks like I was replied to with “ you will see your kitchen after you sign the document and pay the money in full ” I just wanted to see the room first then pay the money as I had already paid a deposit. Taking absolute advantage of international students and no respect and not speaking appropriately. I am a calm person who was taken back by this shocking behaviour and had to leave fast as being shouted and screamed at made me very...
Read moreI lived in the residence about a year ago (January-May) and had I been able to switch residences, I definitely would. I stayed in the apartment with a kitchenette, but also had access to the common kitchen area. The reasons for the 1 star review are as follows. Upon arrival, the apartment was poorly cleaned and it had a layer of grease and dust all over. This, I cleaned myself the first day. The smell that came with it (probably from the previous owner cooking with a lot of oil and grease combined with the fact that there was not a proper kitchen fan in the room) I did however complain about; a rotten, greasy smell. The staff response? "It's the smell of the building." I did not have the same smell sensation in the rest of the building, even though the building is old and not very fresh. Overnight stays, no matter if it's friends, family or a partner, is strictly prohibited. We're adults ffs. This rule bugged me incredibly much. I was called to a meeting (convocation) because I had my partner stay with me the first days in the apartment, being threatened to be thrown out of the residence if it were to happen again. The staff walk into the apartments as they please, without enough warning. They had sent me an e-mail an hour before they came into my room, while I was sleeping, waking me as I was sleeping. As for the facilities in the house, there is no oven in the residence, and there are only four washing machines and three dryers for a couple hundred people to share. I did not have the same experience with the receptionist staff (and janitors) being rude, though. They treated me kindly and were very patient with me trying to speak French, and some of them spoke (or could at least understand)...
Read moreI stayed in this residence during my study abroad, a full semester and some before and after. Upon arrival I was a bit wary, my room wasn’t very clean. I had the room with a kitchenette and my own bathroom, as an American on my study abroad I went into everything with an open mind and excitement so I tried to stay positive. My best friend I made during my study abroad luckily lived just a floor up and if it wasn’t for my friends living there and the memories we made I think I would have had a harder time. There was construction the entire time I was there, which wasn’t so bad until it started to make the cockroaches more prevalent. About a week or two into my stay, the cockroaches were rampant. In my bathroom, sink, FOOD, the fridge, my bed. You name it. Upon telling staff all I got told was “it’s an old building” which is true so I kept an open mind. All we got was a couple roach traps in the room, but with how many there were it really did nothing. It was fun living around so many other students and being exposed to so many walks of life and cultures, as well as my best friend living a floor up so I could go to her place if necessary, but the roaches truly made it a living hell. If you don’t care about that and just want to live in a good location close to everything and other students for an affordable price then it’s the place for you. But it was tough. Upon move out I got screamed at by the cleaning lady as she walked into my room unannounced, moving all of my things around. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Even though it was tough, I am so happy with the memories...
