Musée du Vieux Montpellier — Attraction in Montpellier

It's probably worth going to see the building, but the museum contents aren't inspiring. It was interesting to see some old maps and prints of what Montpellier used to look like look and it's cheap to get in. The staff couldn't tell us anything about the items, they were just most insistent that all photography was absolutely forbidden, for reasons that entirely escaped me. We hadden er meer van verwacht. Het is erg klein, ongeveer 4 kamers, er zijn niet erg veel voorwerpen te bekijken en niet overal staat bij wat het is. Wel kregen we een kaart met Engelse tekst en uitleg bij de verschillende kamers, maar dit was niet erg toereikend. We waren er in een kwartiertje echt wel doorheen en hadden niet het gevoel iets geleerd te hebben over de geschiedenis van de stad. Er staat bijvoorbeeld een verdwaalde urn en wat andere gebruiksvoorwerpen uit de middeleeuwen, maar je moet wel zelf gokken wat het zou kunnen zijn. Ik zou het het beste omschrijven als vergane glorie, erg stoffig en saai. Misschien dat het beter is als je een rondleiding krijgt, maar ik heb hier sterk mijn twijfels bij. Ik zou...
