Botanical Garden — Attraction in Nantes

A place you must visit. Perfect for a relaxing stroll. There is something for everyone: a playground for small children, a paddle pool in the summer and a new play area for slightly older ones. Lots of wildlife: several species of duck, a pond with frogs, turtles, carp, an Avery and a goat farm. A beautiful collection of trees, shrubs and plants from all over the world. The garden is very well maintained and the flowerbeds are changed with the seasons. There are free themed tours all year round. It's a great place for a picnic too as there are many benches all around and tables with chairs. I cannot rate this amazing - and free - attraction in the heart of Nantes highly enough! From the undulating landscape, floral displays, quirky artworks (you must take a 'selfie' beneath the oversize bench!), flower-pot play area, animal petting corner, mechanical water lilies (you turn the handles and the beautifully engineered displays appear out of the water), terrace cafe and tourist information centre, this delightful garden is a very useful 'first stop' on a tour of the City. An urban haven that is incredibly lush and well maintained. This garden was a surprise discovery in the middle of the summer heat and seems very appealing for all ages. It's rich in flora and fauna and it's a joy to spend time here. Take a stroll, enjoy the environment, or relax around in the garden. Local and exotic bird species can be found here together with a little petting zoo with goats. The animals, too, are in good condition - an indication of how well kept the garden is.
