I was looking at the essence products in your store today when one of your workers was busy restocking the shelf, said to me “bitte nicht öffnen, der tester ist da” I told her I wasn’t opening them then she raises her voice and tells me she didn’t say I was, she’s just telling me.

So I told her, please don’t kick me, then she says I’m not kicking you. So I said I know, but I’m just saying please don’t kick me.

Then she keeps speaking to me in an elevated tone insisting that she’s telling all the customers not to open the products. Getting offended by what I just told her, funnily enough.

Anyway, that was clearly not true. She only said it to me based on my skin colour. I said I was going to mention here that she was being racist as she profiled me when saying not to open the products. She then went on to say she isn’t racist and she’s not even white (which again, she clearly is). At this point, I’m not sure what I’m more surprised by.

I’ve been shopping at dm for as long as I can remember, no one has ever told me not to open any of the products just randomly. If I was actually opening it, I can understand.

Please teach your staff manners. Especially the ones dealing in customer service. Even if not directly, they should be trained on at least what not to say. If she was actually trying to be helpful as she claims, she could have asked if I needed any assistance or simply just said the testers are here if you need them. Why is there a need to assume I might open them? This is profiling. It’s racism. It’s wrong.
